Description
Another request!it was meant to be a cool, kinda boss, kinda sorchia- type Vahallan woman but in desert camo.
She'd had lost faith in the Imperium and had removed her iconography (missed the details-derp) and was some kinda cool rebel leader now. Hotness personified.
Insteeead its basically Javelin Quinn. As a soldier.
Still, doing the camo was fun!
Thos kneepads, though. They'd just fall off.

yeah, but the Inquisition (THE ULTIMATE SECRET POLICE) can't be everywhere at once.
also read "Traitor General" by Dan Abnett to see that it is possible to undo brainwashing. although it is very difficult. and extremely painful

her nice wavy hair and fur lined coat really give her an Ice queen look, like she's some sort of old fashioned Russian lady of class. the desert camo looks very well done too, just like the real stuff. while her fancy coat and rugged miltary gear combined together really give a renegade leader feel to her
also her face looks well taken care of which fits her rank, but at the same time she has a stressed air about her expression which also fits with her responsibilities of being boss. a very nice touch

Curiously enough, I've read that desert camo can sometimes be suitable for snow camo. That's probably more applicable to the lighter patterns, like DCU or tropical fleck, though. In contrast, this pattern looks an awful lot like the six-color "choco-chip" pattern used in Desert Storm. And was subsequently used by Iraqis who had cooperated with the Multi-National Force in Iraq.
Seems a little incongruous on a Valhallan...

It was supposed to be for the Valhallan 23rd, describes as specialists for fighting in cold steppe environments. That was the reason I requested desert cammo, really. And this looks quite similar to the paintjobs you can find on Valhallan Ice Warrior miniatures, whenever GW paints them brown anyway.

I'm curious. Could you point me to some examples, please? My Google-fu appears to be weak on this specific topic. Unless reference photos for this specific regiment are really this scarce...
My main point was that I didn't think the Valhallans would use six-color desert camo. The U.S. three-color pattern and tropical flecktarn just seem to be more likely candidates, since the six-color desert pattern is (surprise, surprise) actually unsuitable for most of the desert environments it was originally intended for.
Perhaps I'm relying too heavily on the description of Valhalla as an ice world, as presented in the Ciaphas Cain books.

Looking around my "sources", I think I might have been bullshitting you. I don't seem to find any GW painted Valhallans that have a similar paintjob.
Though still, desert might be the environment that's not the best way to describe the 23rd's original intended area of operations. "The 23rd Valhallan are known to wear steppe fatigues and as such are likely to be deployed to worlds with high amounts of steppe terrain" - Codex: Imperial Guard (3rd Edition, 2nd Codex).
And with this image as an example of steppe terrain (we can only assume what GW specifically means, but if this is what pops up on Google then it's not a bad bet this is a suitable example) [link]
then it's not a bad piece of camouflage. Not bad at all, I would say.

The most famous Vostroyan regiment has no women, but it seems likely to me that other regimanets of Vostroya would have women in.

Well from what I know from fluff and novels... Vostroyan guardsmen are exclusively firstborn men. But different attachments such as commissars or priests don't have that restriction. I was going for a rule 63 ( if that's the gender bend one) I wonder if pilots or tank crews follow those restrictions. And yes, I saw the tank girls thing ya did. :3
