Description
The newcomers to this town and the possible significance they pose, in aide or determent, to his submerged omnipotence have caused me to spend less of my daylight hours in contemplative slumber and more in the abandoned hilltop asylum - a place of interest to outsiders and doubtless the epicenter of this whole rotten incursion of madness from the false prophets of G'Lkap'pka. As I walk between the worlds, in search of he who has already been blessed with his presence, by far the most prevalent malefactor I see are the twisted limping wretches I have chosen to name the 'Victim'. Probably conjured from the daymares of the town doctor, Elias Anderson and to a lesser degree the priest, Razmus Kowalski. They seem to mirror the bubbling skin and rotted whimpers of those effected by the gas attacks of the great war. While far from uniform, these creature invariably have at one limb sheared into sharpened bone. Possibly relating to the foot the father lost.
They wander aimlessly, possibly with useless eyes, moaning piteously until they notice someone at which point they begin to flail and shriek muffled cries. Whether or not this onslaught of oddly strong limbs and bone spurs is intend as an attack or whether the creature is desperately seeking aide is inconsequential. Their attack is brutal and the only help they can be offered is oblivion.
They are , not surprisingly the most popular target of the Stag head.
If they even notice me, they do not attack. Maybe they believe in the glory of the true god, Glaaki. Maybe they just know when something is truly worth avoiding. Truly terrible.

Chilling, and quite unusual design. Not rare, but exotic, if I may say. I guess the description doesn't come from one of the players, does it?

I see, I see. Do you sketch the NPCs before playing and then show them to the players or let their imagination run wild? If the latter, does their interpretation usually come close enough to what you had in mind?

Mr-Culexus In reply to TheEldarFarseer [2016-05-04 03:17:29 +0000 UTC]
I sketch every named NPC for players to see.
I just say 'you see this person' and hold the picture up.
Their are some stumbling blocks. One of the npcs is meant to be a more 'handsome' than 'beautiful woman' (Lena Heady-ish) and players just say she looks like a dude. Oh well.

I know that, right? The hardest characters to draw are the ones another person has thought of, but doesn't have a reference. I still have to redraw our group's guys... I'm too lazy for my own good.

To be honest I have been in other groups since that I found more comfortable and got more laughs with, but this was a great journey taken with good people. And my favourite GM.
Now that I think on it, it was actually the idea of drawing this comic that got me posting art of /tg/ and getting back into drawing after working in design and construction for so long.
I had forgotten that.

Like a lotta folks, I try to take inspiration from early silent hill games as well as 'the suffering'. I like monsters that seem like the player isn't their only, or even biggest problem

This isΒ a rather redundant question, since your quite the /tg/1d4chan celebrity, and have therefore probably spend quite some time on the site. But have you ever read some of the more incredible campaigns like:Β Old manΒ Henderson. And. The guy who cried Grendel?

I don't really like that nickname they have for you there though. I can never tell if its: Mocking, Praising or Both.
But anywayΒ have you even though about Immortalizing these legendary character in you secret Culexus pencil lines and Ink stripes? If you ever have a free moment I mean.

It was given to me (by a good friend, actually) some time ago ( a decade, near as damnit) and I just decided to own it. Most people call me CF or Culexus these days anyways, but I don't really mind. I basically only use it for quest threads anyways, but if someone calls me it, I know they've been following me a while.
Both is perhaps a fair assessment.
I confess, while I enjoy a lot of stories born from /tg/ I struggle between two jobs to find time to draw my own serials and as such don't find much time or interest left for fan art of other things. Better artists than me have surely already immortalized them anyways.

zwartekraai In reply to Mr-Culexus [2016-04-30 05:14:46 +0000 UTC]
Personally I think you art is the best suited for /tg/ Being comedic with still enough grim darkness in it as befits 40k. Most of all In your art characters have just so muchΒ personality.Β And I'm nog going toΒ talk about things like: who is the better artist. Since that's just a matter of taste anyway.
I just figured that being culexified would be a great tribute to some of the few characters I know of that actually managed to beat there GM.Β
But I fully understand that you busy and jobs and real life come first. Just keep the Idea in mindΒ if you ever feel the need to draw something.
Also I don't know If you've read the All Guardsman party story yet but its very good and hilarious. So if you haven't already check it out sometime.
