Description
Aaaah, a look into the various pasts of our heroes.As luck would have it, I have also tracked down the private vox journal of Kerrun Makkia, where he speaks (with some bias) about his team mates and reflects self indulgently on his past.
The things mentioned in this journal relate slightly to adventures not yet seen here, so minor spoiler warning.

A pathalogical fear of spoilers regarding something I am enjoying meant I didn't follow the first link, however the second accompanies the pic perfectly.
Nice to have a look at where they all came from.
Juvenat treatment can make it difficult to guess adult ages in 40k by just looking, are these 5 epochs in the characters lives roughly simultanious, or do they happen at different times?
Oh, and do the later adventures involve growing a beard?

these are all taken at different times, as the acolytes ages are currently:
Kerrun: 34
Javelin: 27
Cortez: 97
Triella: 27
Darraj: 47
I don't believe any are meant to have had juvenats, I think its more that people just plain live longer in the 41st millenium.

Cortez sounds as if he's coasting in the direction of his first.
I do concur on the longer lifespan thing.
At least for the important folk.
Or the ones on a decent planet somewhere distant from a warfront.
Some places make it sound like you'd be lucky to make it to 25, given the conditions.

So even with with his considerable intelligence and staggering wealth, he was beaten, shaved, tortured and had his tongue cut out(the charm on his belt -a good reminder), and was assigned to be an imperial adept.

Kerrun looks a bit older than 13 in his picture, but I can totally see him as one of those kids who always looked older than he was. And as noted, Triela almost looks older in her picture than she does now; like you said, harder life and all that.

Kerrun is of noble heritage, a long jaw and an aquiline nose are part of his noble genealogy, but they do detract from his boyishness. He's also one of those sorts that has always been tall.
This was also back when Triella was eating normally, so despite being younger, she's actually slightly fuller figured at 14.

The girl on the left of Kronus looks oddly like Boone.
Javelin Quin looks absolutely ADORABLE holding up that Tyranid's (Looks like a Behemoth) head up. So goshdarn proud!
