With approval, I kept this little gag going. I guess I need to do this some day.Β This sort of art and writing is gonna be more of a thing in general once I figure out tumblr and I set up the ragged edges ask blog properly. It really helps me flesh out characters.

Nah don't go tumblr, I think it's about time people decamped like what happened with livejournal. It always sucked but they've banned far too many people I follow to continue supporting them.

For Toomaga I'm seeing her issue as not truly having anything to really live for.Β
Its not that she thinks everything is bad, and its not that she has no motivation to get up in the morning, its that she doesn't quite have something that stimulates her passion as much as it used to.Β
She's seen too much break that she doesn't get attached to it, so something has to make it worth the risk.Β

There are jobs I've worked where the people who stopped caring about it seemed to have it easier. They would do there job badly, and because I actually cared I would work myself to death fixing the mistakes they made from not caring. I thought that if I did it for long enough either they would learn to care I would learn not. Fact is, even though every day my work was ruined and I had to fix their mistakes all over again I couldn't actually make myself be like them and just phone it in. Even when I knew fixing a situation was pointless, I couldn't actually stop doing my job properly. It feels Sisyphean. Utterly hopeless.Β

This should be like...one of the first interactions in the 'game.' Β Something to show you that unrelenting optomism isn't always gonna win. Β But also unlocking someone who can only be pursued if you STAY DETERMINED.
Also Boone, while off the table, should be a constant source of advice and usually right. Β Kinda the game's tutorial/wingman given her combination of mild telepathy and being a huge sappy romantic.

I mean, if you're joining the edges, you're probably a survivor from another unit they picked up (pretty much S.O.P). It would allow players to say their name and things like that. She's be like doc Mitchell except much less friendly. Set the pace of the game. That's perfect.
Boone would definitely be there to help. She's good with people, psychic and has a comparatively large amount of free time.

I feel like maybe getting a few interactions with or references to the handful of canon and successful couples may also be worth having in game. Β I'd find lines of Minhelm and Yaroslavla talking about eachother or their relationship absolutely adorable and encouragement that it IS possible to find love on this battlefield.

Most people who are called chain smokers don't actually perform the action of chain smoking, they just smoke a lot.
I've only ever seen one person do this with any frequency and, well, that was in Japan.
It's an action that carries a weight to it when you see it, I think.
