there was a short story by H.G. Wells called the Crystal Egg. It is the prequel to the war of the worlds and it mentions how there were giant insects on mars. Could the machines be based on those?

It's always a possibility But I guess that the Martian Machines from Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds PC Game aren't based on anything, just made up for the game.

I love the insectoid design, this thing looks more buglike than even the fighting machine. The hood makes it look like a dragonfly XD

Exactly, that is also what it reminded me of! It has a very bug like look to them, when I first started on the Game machines I thought they were cheap rip-offs of the original Fighting and Handling Machine, but they aren't, although their design is clearly based on those, they are all very unique in their own way. Thanks for your comment though!

This looks good. What program did you use to make it?

I always thought the scout machines didn't start proving their worth until they got to 2nd and 3rd Generation level, level 1 scouts are just cannon fodder.

The only blueprints/profile shots i've seen of the scout machine are in-game, can't find them anywhere on the net.

I'm currently working on a fighting machine, but i'm not sure if i've got the eyes quite right, i can't tell if they're supposed to be circular or oval, hard to tell without a physical model inhand.

I used Google Sketchup to model the Machines, and Vray to render them out. As I suck at Blender or 3DS Max, I use the simplest 3D software around And it works for me

And yeah, blueprints are very rare. But the ingames are good, once ''decoded'' (the text in front of it makes it very hard to see xD) But in the end, I think I made some good models, nice replica's of the Game machines . Not perfect though, but good enough . Thanks for the faves and watch! And looking forward to your Fighting Machine!

"The Scout Machine is a light and fast attack vehicle. It has thin shielding and only a light Heat-Ray, but its high speed and maneuverability allows it to provide quick support and recoinassance."

Great job.

Honestly I never saw that much use in the Scout Machines, despite their quick build time and high speed.

I agree, I always use Fighting Machines, they are the perfect combination of quick building time and power, Tempest are the strongest, but take a long time to build

To me, I mainly tend to use 3rd Gen Tempests, but on other occasions I am using 3rd Gen Bombarding Machines, Flying Machines and a Scanning Machine, while rarely using the Electric Machine and Xeno-Telepath.

Yeah, I've never used the Xeno-Telepath actually (I don't play the game that often) and bombarding machine is a powerfull weapon, you can kill enemies from the other side of the map And the rest of those ''specialized'' machines I don't really use, I prefer the Fighting Machine

You should try Drones, they are very effective in immediately wasting a group of tanks or defenses.

It doesn't stink, is great, i like it, i have seen really few models of the Scout machine

Mr-Nike In reply to thefireknight2008 [2011-09-08 15:01:52 +0000 UTC]

So did I and the only thing I had to work with were the vague blueprints seen in the game (the information about the machines/buildings have some blueprint backgrounds) and the blueprints RT912 send me, but in the case of the Scout Machine I only had a front view. And as the game has different 3D models then the one used in the opening video and promo shots that was also pretty useless in this case (in case of the Electric Machine they showed a little more)

Anyway, thanks for you comment
