How do I remove or change a glow under the icon? - [link]
And will the implementation of the font change?

I'll make the font themeable. 👍: 0 ⏩: 3
The glow is produced by the windows shell,
the only way to avoid it is to use a image as icon,
0.4.3 already has this functionality (but no ui for it yet)
to use a custom icon, open the items.xml and find the
then insert this line into the markup
e.g.
I'll hurry up with the gui and include it in the next version
Kind regards

Thanks for implementing that. A bit cumbersome for now but with Notepad++ it's easier...and it works, that's the important point.
I have a question : sometimes, fade in animation is quite laggy on my computer, even with no app working on the background but just 4 or 5 windows opened. Is it normal and related to the beta state of the app (optimizations to do)?
I have an "old school" Core 2 duo 2.4GHz with a GTX 285, 3GB of ram and Windows 7 SP1.

There's certainly a lot of room for performance improvements,
but till i get there try to use a background image instead of Aero.
To boost performance even more, set the blur to none.
Let me know how it works out

I disabled the aero blur and used the handy "load current wallpaper" button. It Works a treat and still looks pretty good.
Thanks for the suggestion.

I've gathered a couple of interested developers and right now we're experimenting with some details (dwm hacks mainly),
once we have everything figured out and working we'll release a poc.
so far the only thing that's certain is that it will be written in unmanaged C++
and require a LOT of time until it's at a usable stage.
Best regards

4.1 Memory use (in Task Manager) = 100MB, 4.2 Memory use = 10MB. Excellent work, and thanks for the new rendering engine. It feels more like a 5.0 release - can't wait for to see what else's in store for 5.0 now.

thank you for great update, this docklaunch improvement was crucial to me one suggestion: option to be able to set hotkey without shift, ctrl, win... (eg, i want to set winlaunch hotkey to F4 or some other key, but without modifier like ctrl, alt...) also on hotkey list, I couldn't find tilde key ([link] )

one more suggestion - option to change size of icons inside folders. now there is only one option, to change icon size generally, but i would like option to change sizes separately, one general, and one inside folders. thanks.

Not only folder, but also icons got the same problems. I'm only able to click on 2/3 upper part of the icon, the rest (including the Icon caption) has no effect. The icons can now be moved easier, but can you add a "lock icons" option to prevent users from mistakingly moving icons around? It would be nice.
And if WinLaunch Starter.exe is faster than WinLaunch, why don't you run it at startup instead of WinLauch.exe -minimize?
Anyway, this version is much better in graphics. Thank you so much for this adorable programs. I suggest you should have a search box for even faster program navigation.

Thanks for your feedback,
icon issue is fixed now (0.4.2.1 I'll push it soon)
to lock the items in place you could activate tablet mode
"WinLaunch Starter.exe" is just for a faster Dock-Launch, not startup
I'll add the Mountain Lion search soon
Best regards

Got a bug.
A folder won't open/close/be_renamed if you click closer to the bottom of it.
I'd say the sixth part of a folder is a dead zone (the closest one to the bottom).

What an amazing evolution!
I think that every single bug that was "annoying" is gone (although there's still that delay in the blurred bckg every time I open a folder, but I can live with that) - I'm really glad that the synaptics startup bug is gone and that the "tap-to-open" is working properly now, WL doesn't close anymore
The text is way better and the open animation is delicious eheh Kudos for the new icon rendering engine - no more blurry stuff. Good job ^^
Can't wait for the next version! Please consider the suggestions I wrote before (the automatic re-enable of the blurred background after the re-activation of Windows Aero etc.)
Have a nice week.

Thanks,
I'll add the auto Aero check in the next version
what delay do you mean?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
emannxx In reply to MrC0rrupted [2012-03-21 01:04:35 +0000 UTC]
Windows Aero has those "white bars" that create the allusion of glass. When blur + aero is activated in Winlauch, everytime I click an icon, the darkened background fades normally but those "white bars" and the blur remain for 1 more second, which is really annoying.
I'm gonna try to make a video of the problem and send it to you ASAP.
I believe that it's a bug between the icon animation when clicked and the fade out (flyout) animation, because when I close Winlaunch without clicking any icon, it fades perfectly.
