Description MINER DWARVES
Family: Minutoridae (Dwarves and Gnomes)
Size: 1 metre (3 feet) long, 60 cm (2 feet) height
Diet: Grasses, berries, fruits and tubers.

Standing up to 2 feet in height, the Miner Dwarf (Collisminutor deminutivus, meaning diminutive mountain miner) is the largest and most widely known species of Dwarf. With it's bipedal, hunched posture, enlarged forelimbs, blunt snout and messy, shaggy coat, it is a typical representative of the dwarf family. They are an extremely social species, living in groups of up to 30 animals. Their community-built subterranean "cities" can stretch under miles of land and reach an astounding level of complexity. This, along with evidence of high emotional intelligence and community roles within dwarf cities suggests that they are likely much more intelligent that they maybe at first appear.Β

huh... interesting. I figured Dwarfs were distantly related to Neanderthals.

That's a reasonable theory for the more classical dwarfΒ  Β Β
In this context I'd say my dwarves are close relatives of rodents, evolving from a rather gopher-like or wombat-like ancestor

What an original idea! Though, why did you feel the need to add a "magic organ"?

Thanks the magic organ was mainly added to explain how dwarves can so easily make tunnels through solid rock, as there is no real world burrowing mammals that can naturally achieve this. I also did it because it makes sense to me that creatures that evolved in a setting where magic is a natural phenomenon, like this version of dwarves have, would evolve magic abilities and specialist structures to harness it.Β

Interesting alternative take on Dwarfs.

Looks great! I especially like how instead pf the typical bearded miner that comes to mind when one thinks dwarf, you made a fuzzy animal instead. I absolutely love it!

Thanks I felt it was worth coming up with something different from more typical depictions, as dwarves do quite often seem to suffer from a lot of "copy-paste" designs. My main aim was to make something unfamiliar, but with enough typical dwarf traits to make it recognisable
