Description
Another reference sheet of Rickey.I had to draw him from the front and from backview to show markings and stuff and made some more face expression images.
I also came up with a bio for him.
No, he is not related to Timon and does not live in the same clan XD
Name: Rickey
Gender: Male
Current age: 1,5 years old (young adult)
Species: Actually a typical meerkat, but his father was an Indian mongoose who made a trip to Africa and met Rickey's mom LOL
Nick-names: Rick, The Tamer
Job: He actually had the job to search food, but later when they found out that he was fearless towards other bigger animals, he should become a defender.
Life today: Since he once defeated a hyena they call him 'The Tamer' but because that dumb ass of a hyena followed him everywhere, they banned him from his home and he had to go away, the hyena still following him, seeing him as his new 'pack' or as a kind of 'master'.
So they became friends and are wandering through the land.
Character: Usually selfish and arrogant, because he is stronger than other meerkats, he thinks, he is better, but he always helped his relatives and friends when they asked him.
He usually is lazy, never doing his job correctly, excepting the defender-job.
He is sarcastically and a bigmouth, not afraid to deal with bigger animals, even lions.
He often reffered about his father how he was able to defeat a deathly cobra, so he as his son would easily handle a kitty.
Reference sheet of the Hyena will come soon.

I would love to see him in the style of a real meerkat, instead of being a "Timon clone".

I made him looking in Disney style because I think Timon looks cool.

All a matter of personal tastes I guess. Timon looks cool, for Timon, but when I see other meerkats done in that style, they just don't register as meerkats to me. But then Disney got it all wrong in TLK 1 & 1/2, meerkats don't really fear hyeans that much because hyeanas are mostly scavenders. A meerkat's real worry are mostly birds of prey and in reality, meerkats aren't the skittish little whimps they are protrayed to be in that "movie", they are very brave and will fight to the death. When it comes to diet, basicaly a meerkat will eat anything that does not eat it first and they are omnivores. The comment made by Timon's uncle about meerkats not being able to eat grass isn't true. Meerkats can and do eat grass. I do like the idea of him not being a full meerkat and actually being half Indian mongoose though. KM claims to be a meerkat, but there's some speculation that she might actually be half fossa.

The way you draw her, she really has something from a fossa to me.
Yeah I know, at zoos they do feed the meerkats with many different things like eggs, meat, fruits and insects. You probably can feed them with everything you are eating as well when you would keep them as pets.
That´s pretty cool, they eat what we eat XD
I didn´t know that meerkats are not scared by hyenas. I know that hyenas are actually hunters, but they also eat what they consider eatable and easy to kill so they never would attack something which scares them and when a meerkat knows this, it maybe makes itself bigger and agressive and the meerkat does look not not so easy to eat anymore XD
But as I guess they usually don´t eat grass, do they?
We can´t compose grass that well either, yet are able to eat it, but if we would eat it more often, I think we would get trouble.

Kinda like that line in Titan A.E., "If you want to hunt meerkats, you should remember that they travel in packs!" Meerkats will fight off lions if they have too. They band together and work as a team. I used to nibble on grass back when I was hungry and I thought my mom was taking too long to make dinner. It didn't really taste that bad either. My dad would eat grass when he was in Veitnam and food was scarce.

Yeah you can eat it, I didn´t say that you can´t. I have eaten grass too when I was a child and wasn´t not just one or two grass leafs but I mean, when you want to eat it like a real diet and eat it probably every day like you eat other things, it´s not healthy. You easily can also get tape worms from it because grass often functions as a large cloaca for grass eating animals which often have tape worms. Better eat the leafs off of trees were cows, deer and so on don´t lose their poop on.

I used to actually want ot get tapeworms. Well, at least after I heard that people who rode racehorses for a living would purposely consume tapewarm eggs in order to stay thin.

How dare you know more about veternairy medicine than I? LOL! Besides, heartworm is said to be carried by a mosquito. I just wonder how come only certian species are said to get it. Is it because there isn't anything anyone could do for a horse, meerkat, akerenian, etc like they can for a dog?

LOL I only saw that on tv once and because I have a heart issue, it kept sticking in my brain XD
Oh yeah of that worm in a mosquito I have heard too, once. But I have no idea what kind of worm that is. As far as I know it is not the same tape worm you can get from eating raw meat, unwashed fruits and vegetables or even grass.
As far as I know, tape worm is like a circle. Some animals like deer, cattle and other big plant eating animals got it from somewhere. It is on their stomach then and the animals poop out the eggs. Yeah well, the eggs land on many different things like grass, fields, where ever the animals go by. Ok, now other animals come and eat that and get it too.
About carnivores, they kill the deer/cattle whatever, eat their guts, and get the tape worm or eggs too and for example about wolves, foxes etc they don´t lose their poop on the grass. Usually they mark their territory along special lines they go every day and sometimes this also is on normal ways in forest where you wander along. You see something like berries growing there, but a fox could have marked his territory there too and so better not eating the berries, or eat them when they are too high to reach for a fox, so you can say 50cm above the ground is ok, because a fox can´t pee so high LOL
So, how do dogs get fox tape worm?
Well, sometimes dogs find the poop of fox and eat it. Well it is disgusting, not all dogs do that but some seem to be totally addicted to eat other animals 'shit' LOL hunter dogs sometimes have to face the fox and fight with him, and foxes also can have tape worm eggs in their fur.
That´s why hunters don´t like the job of skinning and tanning fox pelts that much. You always need to wear gloves, mouth cover for protection, the eggs are small, you don´t see them so easily and till the cape is still raw and not washed out properly, there still can be eggs remaining in the fur till that tanning happens. But on tanned fur, you really don´t need to have any fears.

LOL yeah I had a similar idea for him first (personality) and make him a torn ear and pulling out a cover for his eye when he tells stories how he tames lions and the children ask him 'Hey, why do you use that eye mask? You didn´t lose your eye!'
And he says: Yes, but it´s more authentic with it!' XD
