Description Done for the latest issue of The Stool Pigeon. A little bit tweaked from the version that appears in the paper, but not by much. I don't think it really works that well, it was kind of rushed, so you might need to track back a couple of times to actually understand it.

Hmm, thank you for that! I feel like I sort of knew this, but haven't seen it put down in such clear terms. I'll definitely bear it in mind in the future.

Yeah, it can be a bit tricky applying theory. One of those situations where, even if you know it, that doesn't mean you know how to apply it. I've been really enjoying the hell out of your comics thus far, and the only real criticisms I could ever lay on your works are incredibly nitpicky. Which is more a testament to how your skills have developed thus far.

Well thank you very much. Do feel free to lay on any nitpicky critiques though if you spot anything. I'm always looking to improve and pick up little things that might stick in my mind.

I gues the only problem with my idea is that you would have to change the hole page format

^^" so after all my idea doesn't work well

once again, great use of parallel storylines! just a suggestion: i think the first two rows could work with just the arrow for the 4th panel. otherwise, it works really well!

This is so true
and the colors scheme is a feast as always
just wondering, do you draw directly in the computer with a tablet or do you do it traditionally and scan it?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MumblingIdiot In reply to MarioGraciotti [2010-04-21 15:12:49 +0000 UTC]

I draw and ink it traditionally though I nearly always get in there and digitally redraw bits that got too messy. You can't really tell so it seems a bit pointless sometimes, but I find it much less frustrating to have it on one real piece of paper in front of me and to work everything out like that.

Maybe I'm just weird but on first read I didn't notice the arrows XD DERP! Then read the comments and went "what arrows" So it worked for me without seeing them somehow.

Awesome art style combined with amusing and witty themes I think this should win some internets.

Well that's kind of good to know, my intention was for them to be guiders just in case you didn't follow properly.

Thanks!

This is great! The message was clear enough to me, I had no confusion. And what an iteresting message it is, too I can't get over your style, and it must be amazing to have your work in so many places.

It took me a couple times to get the top part, but I got it eventually; the rest of the comic flows pretty smoothly! Love it!

This is amazingly well done man. I also found the top-right arrows to be a bit confusing but nothing else.

JDWRudy25 [2010-04-21 14:35:47 +0000 UTC]

if anything was confusing it was the top part with the arrows. otherwise it looks great

MumblingIdiot In reply to JDWRudy25 [2010-04-21 14:43:45 +0000 UTC]

D'oh. I actually added the arrows in as an attempt to make it less confusing. I wanted them to be read as happening simultaneously and thought it would be a tripping point if that wasn't clear. Reckon they were a bad idea?

mrdynamite In reply to MumblingIdiot [2010-04-21 16:38:58 +0000 UTC]

it'd make sense either way, the arrows make it clearer though i think

14th-Night In reply to mrdynamite [2010-04-21 19:20:56 +0000 UTC]

You probably could've done without the arrows, the similarity of the first two sets of panels sets up a visual (and thus temporal) link. I think the greatest thing the arrows do for it is to imply some sort of causation- that purple-shirt guy's actions influence red-shirt guy's actions/what he experiences. I almost wanted that format repeated in the last row of small panels, where red-shirt is influencing purple-shirt.
