Description
Aside from world domination, my life's dream is for Sega and Capcom to team up and make an old-school 2D Sega vs. Capcom fighting game, a la Marvel vs. Capcom 2. And they'd get me to help them pick the roster and develop the characters! And we'd eat pancakes to celebrate! And we'd all become best friends!!!Anyway, this is how I think Midknight from Sega's Eternal Champions would look in Capcom's animation style, both in normal resolution and simulated "game pixelation". Enjoy!

Midknight was actually the vampire that got me into vampires when i was like... what Seven? Loved the game and Midknight and Xavier were my favorites. You did a really good job on this!

Thank you! I actually started a small series of these Sega/Capcom characters for Sega Addicts, a forum site for the podcast, if you wanna check it out: [link]
But yes, Midknight is easily my favorite! Back when the first Eternal Champions game was still being made and I only got glimpses of him in small magazine photos, I thought he was like a voodoo guy wearing a bone necklace. After I looked at it closer, I was like "Holy crap! That's his ribcage! He's rotting! That's so awesome!!!" Instant favorite.
I liked Larcen a lot, too, and Rameses from the sequel. And Xavier was always cool, of course!

Ah, yeah, Trident was very cool! He's up there on my list of favorites. I love acrobatic characters--I always wished Midknight had a little more of that like Trident did!

HELL YEAH!
I thought I was the only one who wanted this!
I even pitched a remake of Eternal Champions to Sega via Albert Co the lead artist on EC.
This would be Awesome! Too bad Capcom forgot about Traditional 2d Animation.
VIVA 3rd STRIKE!!!!!

Preach it, brother! I've been dying for a Sega vs. Capcom game for AGES, and I've wished they'd make EC 3 ever since I saw the photo for it on the back of the Saturn box. Damn you, fate!
That's cool! What was your pitch like? Did you include any artwork?
I've got a feature on the Sega Addicts website [link] about Sega vs. Capcom--I list the characters and their moves! I've only got Shinobi and Sonic up so far, but I plan on adding more (like Midknight)!
Thanks for the faves, by the way!

I saw yer segga addicts stuff! I can dig it fer real!!
Both yer drawings were slick!
Maybe that should be a future Jam here on DA?
I'm sure there's a handful of artists/fans that could make this work.

It's when a bunch of artists do interpretations of the same characters. The key is that the integrity of the original design must be represented, or at least remain intact.
Check out the ones in my journal for the month.
It would be awesome if you got in on it!

That sounds cool! I love seeing how other artists interpret the same character, and I love interpreting other characters myself! It might have to wait, though--I'm super busy with freelance projects right now, but it'll lighten up relatively soon.

I hear ya!
Keep yer eyes open tho, we'll be trying to get as many jams in as possible. They don't all have to be elaburate either. S sketch or warm-up can do the trick.
Well I can't wait till you have some free time. Yer work is awesome! Can't wait to see what you'll be coming up with.
Good luck with the workload. I know how it is.

Totally! The EC characters would work perfectly in a versus game! And I was always disappointed that Capcom never put any Power Stone characters in their versus games, too. They really need to get on that.

Yeah seriously. Herd rumors going around that Rouge was considered for TVC. x.x I would consider her or Falcon at the very least. They could like use items from the games and use the Power Stone moves for supers.

Totally! I've thought about Power Stone characters for a Vs. game forEVER! It would be so cool to use the power bars to change into the Power Drive form. Maybe one of them will show up in MVC3! Here's hoping...

What Are Your Thoughts On Marvel Vs Capcom 3 ?

MurderousAutomaton In reply to NaughtyBoy83 [2010-05-11 21:26:50 +0000 UTC]
I actually don't know much about it yet. I know Necro's not in it, so that kinda sucks.
I liked Street Fighter 4, but somehow it's harder for me to get into the 3D Capcom fighters. It was just so fun to me to watch the 2D animation! ^_^ But I'm sure MvC 3 will be cool--I'm definitely interested to see who gets in! What's your impression of it?

Yeah, I really miss the 2D fighters! MvC 2 was probably my favorite fighting game ever, but Capcom vs SNK 2 is high up on my list.
I haven't played Blaze Blue yet! I hear the animation is amazing. My brother raves about it.

I Like The SEGA CD 1 Too But I Love The 1st Game - I Love The Music Too - Still Play It On MY MegaDrive/Genesis 19+ Years And Still Running.

MurderousAutomaton In reply to NaughtyBoy83 [2010-05-13 20:07:36 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, I'll always like the original, but I'm a big Midknight fan, and he's (in my opinion) a much better character in the sequel. Plus, I like all the new characters! And the music with actual guitars is pretty sweet, too!
But I liked Shadow's old costume more, not so much because it was more revealing, but because it was drawn better. And some of the animation is better in the first one, too, since they had to cut some stuff to fit everything into the second one. I guess they both have their strong points!

My Fav Character Is Shadow And Xavier, I Still Play It All The Time On My PSP [CFW]. I Liked The 1st Game More Then The 2nd Game But I Did Like The Fatalities In The 2nd Game, But There Were A Few Weak Characters In The 2nd Game - Felt Kinda Rushed.
π: 0 β©: 1
MurderousAutomaton In reply to NaughtyBoy83 [2010-05-15 04:26:19 +0000 UTC]
I would definitely agree with that--the animation for Dawson was really bad, unfortunately. Some of Riptide's moves and animation were a little iffy, too.
The fatalities were cool, but they kinda went crazy with them--like forty different varieties of them! The "Cinekills" were cool, though, with the horribly out-dated 3D graphics!
I heard the third one was supposed to introduce another boss character, "Chaos", who used both the Dark and Eternal Champion to mess with space/time or something. Sounds strange!

Now THAT'S a dream I can sympathies with ^^ (except Square Enix would be a part of the deal) I'd have to say Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 was my favorite fighter EVAR!!! Even though everyone used Sentinel, Storm, and a flying character I always stuck to being a true fighter with my own original team! LET PANCAKES BE HAD BY ALL!!!
π: 0 β©: 1
MurderousAutomaton In reply to pwned-by-twilight [2010-04-29 05:01:09 +0000 UTC]
Yes! Thank you! I'm always telling my brother that Sentinel is cheap as hell, but he denies it! He uses him ALL THE TIME! And one move from him takes as much as 20 from Spider-Man! How can that not be cheap?
Sorry, you'll have to pardon my bitterness. Anyway, yes, that is the greatest fighter of all time! It's a crime that Sega never got in on it. What team did you use, by the way? Spider-Man and Blackheart were my mainstays, and I'd mix up the third slot with either Jin, Venom, Captain Commando or Gambit.
PANCAKE OWNAGE!!!
