MurderousAutomaton In reply to ??? [2016-11-05 18:13:23 +0000 UTC]
Oh, cool! Β Thank you!
Good question! Β My style tends to lean toward cartoony, so my proportions usually aren't very realistic. Β I would suggest just drawing what looks right to you, and what you have fun with. Β I think overall anatomy is more important than proportion; Β proportion is a matter of taste, depending on your style, but anatomy is less negotiable. The more you practice anatomy, I think your own sense of proportion will emerge. Β Have fun with it!

I also enjoy this. Good robot. or is it a bad robot? I can't tell! I love it.

Ha, ha! Β Thank you! Β I think all robots are inherently good, in that they realize humanity must be destroyed.

Thanks! ^__^ It's actually not that hard--if you ever want any pointers, just let me know! Although I don't use vector shapes for my stuff--I have a really old version of Photoshop.

Well just knowing how to use the pen tool would be cool among other thingss.

I'd like that as well! I actually never got the hang of the pen tool (I've tried multiple times), so I just use the selection tools.

Well then, just the ideas would be nice.

Well, gradients and drop shadows work wonders on pieces like that--it really helps give a lot of depth. For instance, if you make a circle with the selection tool, then you can do a gradient inside to make it look three-dimensional. Adding the drop shadow underneath helps it pop and look more real, too.

Lol! Ok! It really looks like airbrush with undilued paint. A little bit like the old batman animated serie (1990) backgrounds...

MurderousAutomaton In reply to bdec [2010-07-26 17:48:57 +0000 UTC]
Yeah! That's what I was going for--that art deco look that Batman had, too! Is that airbrush technique you mentioned a digital thing, or are you talking about the real deal? I've never airbrushed before, but I've always been interested in it. My software's really out of date, too, so I'm not familiar with a lot of the processes people use nowadays for digital painting, either. I'm a caveman! ^_^

Don't worry, I have the same problem with some of my softwares! Lol! I was more talking about the real traditional old fashion dirty techic! Lol! I use it in so many of my works and I can't even think doing without this little item! If you ever buy one, just tell me, I'll give you some exercises and technics!

By the way, sorry it took me so long to respond--been on vacation, and now I'm behind!

Just write me back when you'll whant to try! ;-D I'm curious to see the result. Just a little trick. Don't use the "airbrush paints". It is not the best stuff. Use more the achrylics ink. Those are more liquid and give really better colours!

Oh, cool--thanks for the tip! Hopefully I'd be able to give it a shot relatively soon. I know one of my friends has an airbrush kit that he wants me to try out. I'll definitely let you know when I do!
