I've gotten a few people asking me for pointers on how to draw ponies, and another few asking for me to just post a dang tutorial. So here it is.I've never made a tutorial before, so I hope it doesn't completely suck. XD At the very least, I hope it's helpful.
Let me also note that I've never been to any sort of art school, (I taught myself how to draw 100%) and I have not seen or used any tutorials on how to draw ponies. (Also, this was done on the computer with a mouse, and I usually draw traditionally with a pencil and pens, so the joints are slightly wrong and the body is a little too big. orz) The way I draw ponies is simply how I taught myself, and how it works for me, so if you disagree/think there's an easier way, please keep it to yourself, I'm not looking for crits. :3
Just trying to help out some fellow bronies who are having troubles getting started drawing. Let me know if it helped!
Also, this tutorial is about how to draw the ponies ONLY. If some of you want tips on other things like coloring, I may make another tutorial if I have time.

Then clicking on deviations with 'ponies' in the title seems like a poor choice for someone who is trying hard to avoid them.

joints are in wrong places it looks like, and forelegs are missing a joint.

I mentioned in my description very clearly that this is simply the way I draw ponies, I have never studied cartoon pony anatomy nor have I looked at other tutorials. I never claimed that this was perfect, and the joints ARE slightly misplaced, because instead of drawing this traditionally like I always do, I drew it with a mouse on the computer, which I'm not used to.
But like I said in the description, I am not looking for crits. Thank you anyway. :]

You didn't say in the description you weren't looking for critique.
I do recommend studying the subject before trying to teach it, though. I understand that it was done with a mouse rather than traditionally, as you're used to, making it a bit more difficult.

i just drew A PONY! it looks pretty good if I do say so myself but a few mistakes. mostly cuz I was drawing on a post-it so it's crammed on there and the ball point pen kept messing up lol. I'm already a decent drawer but I've never really drew ponies/horses that much. so this was definitely helpful! ^_^ thanks!

haha, idk when. I don't get around to drawing much and I don't have a scanner. and drawing on the computer is hard for me. haha. well, in Paint anyway. I don't have any other drawing programs on my computer.

The trial is free, and even after the trial runs out, you can still draw in it, you just have to prnt screen to save your art. ;3 I used the trial for years until I finally owned the program XD

Step 1) Acquire random screen shot from show
Step 2) Trace and color accordingly
Step 3) Post as a "vector"

Technically, many are actual vectors (At least, according to what many tutorials call vectors), though there are lots that commit the horrible crime of using the pen tool and even dare to call it vector. GUISE SRSLY
