--full view please--Some ideas for a new story concept (mostly done in school) that I sketched out.
The idea invloves giant robots...with coffins. The pilot is actually in the coffin, and you can see a picture of someone piloting one in the top left corner. The bottom right has a sketch of what is possibly the main character, and the center and top right pictures are of the robots...which and I call "those robots with the coffins"
I'm still getting the details worked out, but I'd really like to hear what all of you think ^^

Oh my freak... That's really, really, really, reallyreallyreallyREALLY good! I like it that much. The coffin idea is really unique, though you'd think it'd be poor design?
What are the robots for? Is it like Evangelion? I've only seen the last part of the end, while tired because I was staying up all night and wired because of caffeine, and it was like H'OMFG. This reminds me of that. ...Because it's the only thing I know of that can relate to such awesomeness.

I was thinking the same thing about the coffins, but I'm still looking for ways to justify it...(I think I'm getting close with one story)
I'm still working out the ideas, but the robts will be piloted...I'm trying to make it different than all the other mech series out there...we'll see if I can do that.
It just takes practice. I know you can draw humans ^^ Just try some sketches and stuff to get down the basic anatomy and then polish it up.

D: I've got human anatomy down, sort of, just can't do FACES. At least not good like you've got there.
So, what do the robots do? And how big are they? Do they fight stuff? Do they mine? Are you gonna put them in that story you've got with the demons? Does how the pilot cross their arms to do with whether they're right or left handed (what about ambidextrous)?
...!?

Faces and hands are the hardest parts to do ^^
The robots fight, and tap into the subconcious mind of the pilot (or something like that, I'm still working it out). They are smaller than the robots of some seires. I do not think they mine...^^ But it's hard to describe, I'll have to draw a scale at some point. Nope, They're in a different plotline. I think they pilots will always have to have their arms crossed, however, major functions of the mech can be mapped to either hand, depending on the preference of the user. I migh have some pilots with custom coffins who pilot different ways. They would have to be really the "aces" of the pilots though.
Any other questions? They're really helping me flesh out parts of the story, so if you have more, keep them coming!

'Aight, that all sounds really cool! Who are they fighting? Why did they need to build mechs to fight them? Why design them to reference death and christianity? Why does that guy look like he's screaming? Did they need to look human and scary? Do the robots have AI? Where do they go to fight? What happens to the mech if it's injured - repaired or destroyed? Do the mechs for females look the same? What are they made of?

I haven't quite decided who the mechs are going to be fighting, but I know they will be powerful enough so that mechs are needed. The design reference to christianity and death is because the cross is such a strong symbol, and death because the pilots are risking their lives, and many won't make it back. That guys looks like he's screaming, because he's pushed the mech into an overdrive mode, allowing the robot's circuits full access to his mind and subconcious. This fills both the robot and pilot with a massive amount of power that is mostly released through anger. (still working the whole subconcious thing out). Derfinetly repaired if damaged, they are very valueble (there isn't a whole army. I was thinking the people would model the mechs after their gods or something to impart fear into their enemies, but I might not use that, and just have them made like that just for the fear factor. (Some don't have teeth showing though). The mechs for females look reletively the same. I mean, the mech design can be altered so it fits the pilot's preferences, so a females' mech might look a little different (or at least the coffin...maybe). I'm not quite sure what they're made of, but I know the coffin's armor is heavier than that of the mech itself

About the anger thing: overused. How about, when a mech is all I'MINURHEDZ the pilot basically goes unconscious? Just all... dead-like. Like their soul left their body and is now in the mech itself, because it has no soul, so it's easy to enter it, but hard to get out? I've heard about astral travelling, it's easy to leave the body but really hard to get back in.
And the anger thing is a waste of energy, too. It's like lasers. Real laser weapons, you wouldn't be able to see them, because all that light is wasting the potential destructive energy of the beam. Also, what's it bouncing off of to make the light reflect into your eyes? Space, itself? Hmm, interesting possibility there...
What other types of mechs would there be? Human-shaped mechs would only be scary to humans. It's the valley of I forget what it's called, but when someone is designing a robot or something to look human, if you look at it's progress on a chart, it slowly gets higher and higher to 100%, but then right before you reach the human mark it goes right down to zero, then back up, because it's SO close to being human but something little is off, so it makes the whole thing creepy... [/rant] Which applies to scary humanoid mechs. Whatever the mechs are fighting, the mechs should look like them, but just a little different/scarier.
I could do some sketches of various alien-monsters, though I'd prefer if the "enemies" only looked different, not ogreish. I hate how evil things are always portrayed as ugly/scary, because most of the time they're not.
