Description
This Red-necked Phalarope was one of the birds my friends and I chased at the Biggest Week festival in Ohio. She was fairly close to the shoreline of the marsh and was feeding very quickly. She finally paused for a moment to preen.Pearson Metropark, Oregon, Ohio

It's quite a pose you captured here! She really looks elegant. I so love this species, how amazed I was when I first read about their 'backwards' breeding system.

Yes! One of the few birds where the female is the more colorful one.

I could not believe that those birds are not shy, until I once met one. Impossible for the tele lens, it walked just right under my three-pod...Great colours and I really like your foto!

Thank you! She was so busy feeding, that she just didn't mind us.
