That is so cool! I knew them for a while and had gotten more or less familiar with their keeled, uneven beaks - but it was only recently I actually saw a photo of one from the front. It's insane how thin their beak really is! I like this photo for that fact, as it offers such a different perspective on these odd birds

I've been trying for a while to get some good "front beak" photos. My last trip to the coast gave me plenty of ops!!

yes, an amazingly narrow beak. they really are much stranger than i had thought.
