You draw your own letters individually, right? They come out much better than reg'lar font when you draw them, but when I draw them they look like chickenscratch. How did you get them so good?

the trick is to actually DRAW the letters instead of write them. They're just another part of the overall picture, so they have to be as readable! Take the time to make each letter look like it's really supposed to, and then focus on ways to get faster at it. For instance, I draw 'I's as straight lines because it saves space and it reads relatively well.
