The illusions in this piece are so lovely! Seamlessly, the underside of the umbrella flows into the woman's jacket; her partially undefined waist fades into the background; and the bottom of her dress merges with the shadowy dog.
The colours you use are so nice! (I love blue) But it's not simply blue, it's dusky blue, dark smoky blue, and mysterious blue, complemented by faint tones of brown and orange that give just enough warmth.
It's such an evocative piece, not completely angry, nor menacing, nor even totally melancholy, but somewhere in between. I love the woman, especially the strange and implacable expression on her face, but also her colour-changing hair curled so naturally around the shaft of the umbrella, and the swirling blue patterns of her clothes. I wonder who she is, or what she represents.
What I like most of all, however, is the combination of the three 'items' - woman, umbrella and dog. They make such an odd group, but nevertheless fit so perfectly within this picture and make it amazing.
