Around Nome,Ak (worked there a couple years for the FAA) they speak of "ground storms" where the visibility at the surface is nil in the horizontal blast, but you can look up and see clear, blue sky.

like vana said, it reminds me of desert... how the wind picks up and the entire desert will shift a bit in whatever direction, obliterating villages and roads... neat shot!
