Description Okay, this is the final orchard possibly for the entire year! It is, as you see, a manip. The reason is that the photo I shot did not begin to give the feeling of being inside this huge orchard (perhaps over a 100 acres) with nothing but cherry blossoms and green trails between the rows. It was a complete fantasy scene!

This is meant to capture a bit of that... though mother nature far exceeds me!

I do. I do feel fine today. maybe i was overtired. That can happen. I sometimes subsist on 5 hours of sleep a night for a week and though I don't feel tired, I get grumpy and low. I took some vits got a great night's sleep and all's well today.

Except it's sooooo damned cold... and rain that feels like sleet!

dreamy... near your lake?

Yes, it is near my lake. This orchard is located between Torch Lake (my lake) and Elk Lake and is about 20 miles from Lake Michigan. I think it is good fruit growing because of the moderating influence of all that water.

A beautiful piece of work mate, this is absolutely gorgeous. One of your best. I love the painterly effect and how it's been applied. The way you've framed the shot is also a nice touch. Great work.

It was dreamlike and exhilerating to be there in the midst of that huge orchard. I walked into it with my dog... only trees, blossoms and those green strips at every row... and lots of bees ...lots and lots of bees.

PErfect! btw what did you do to manip it? I love how it looks. reminds me of the movie 'Anne of Avonlea'

I told you my mom loves gardens and she has a neon green thumb I swear! Well hahah we had one of these in our backyard... awesome cherries for the pickings as well as raspberries... the funny thing about it is that the house was in one of the seediest neighborhoods in the town I live in. Outside was horrible but once you walked into the backyard you forgot you were in ghettoville. we even had a rabbit that we let roam in the backyard with the dogs. hahaha He thought he was a dog... Damn thing was litter trained as well so it really worked out. Hysterical!

I went through so many layers to get it to look like that I know I'll forget some... but it was a bit dull looking so I did the usual saturation and contrast..and then shifted the saturation on some colors by themselves. I belive I did the highlights and shadows adjustment and fiddled with that... each layer I adusted opacity to what felt right also... then I did a distortion>diffuse glow and shifted the color on that layer after adjusting opacity. and the an unsharp mask a little bit just to crip it up.. flattenend the whole thing and adjusted the contrast and saturation to suit.. Damn sounds like a complex recipe.. and I know I've left things out!

You mom sounds wonderful. I love people who create where they are!... don't wait for the perfect location or space. I almost bought a house like that in LA. It was in this really rundown area but once you went through the front gate you were in another world. It was genius and beautiful. But to get to it... was quite ugly. Good for your MOM!!

Dostoyevsky627 In reply to myrnajacobs [2005-05-14 01:28:23 +0000 UTC]

so did you not buy the house in la because of the neighborhood? I've been to LA and I must say unfortunately it was not a very pleasant experience.

myrnajacobs In reply to Dostoyevsky627 [2005-05-14 02:06:18 +0000 UTC]

No we didn't buy that one. But we have owned one house in Los Angeles (Burbank actually), rented and lived there for 8 years besides that. We also lived in Orange Country (Costa Mesa) for a long time. We owned two different homes there at different times.

Los Angeles is a city to love and hate. It is so huge and so difficult to get around in. The best way to see it is with a friend who takes you to his or her favorite places. I love the international qualities it has and the Hispanic element truely gives the city life it might not have so much of sometimes. I love to go to the pretty places, the museums, the out of the way parks... even sometimes places like Universal City walk. Mostly I love the food.. so much, so many differnt kinds... and the fact that you can find ANYTHING you want to buy in LA. LOL

My place in California now is in Long Beach, which is a city of good and bad as well. It's has very expensive and very wonderful areas and it has 'the hood' and they are right next to each other. Downtown is growing nicely and becoming quite pretty. There is a lot of open space in that city which is very very cool.

Why did you have a bad time.

It was when I was going cross country with friends and we were short on money so we had to stay at this seedy motel where their were prostitues and roaches. many roaches.... I flipped out... Needless to stay we did what we had to do there and left.

eeeeek... you know how I hate roaches! You could have stayed at my house! Too bad you didn't know me then. there are good things about LA and the entire area. If you are there again sometimes, I'll figure out a place for you to stay.. that is nice and a tour guide.

Wow. what a great thing for you to say. I admire your work soooo much, it is incredibly meaningful to have you say that!

I want to do some nudes.. just need to round up some folks to do it. There are models to be had here. my painter friend uses a girl model that would be nice.

Mostly I've used myself ... none on the site.. well, one very blurry one. LOL For now it's orchards, etc.

Nice - thought they were cherries in the first shot but being from a distance wasn't sure. Like what you've done - really makes you feel surrounded by blossom.
