I did, but it was so crowded. it would be fun to find a time when there are not a zillion people there.

It looks like she can't wait fr intruders with cameras to leave the room. Brilliant.

I thought it was pretty cute, the way she's looking back at us all.

It is. Especially with the image of the painting on the LCD screen of that camera.

I especially liked that too. I wished it had been more in focus but I needed the wide aperture so I had enough light to shoot. so...no depth of field..

Irena-N-Photography In reply to myrnajacobs [2007-11-07 04:21:59 +0000 UTC]

But it's visible and it helps to create layers. I'm not sure it would be better with that part more in focus that it is.

I do love that! USA museums are such jerks about it...the new Grand Rapids museum is the absolute worst I've ever been in... Nazi art guards.

Funny, isn't it. I love paris because the museums let you take photos. In the United States, they mostly do not!

It is stupid and irritating.. I never use flash in the museum... and just for spite, I always take photos anyway, secretly.

Gorgoro In reply to myrnajacobs [2007-11-05 14:02:26 +0000 UTC]

ja...I dont know in museums, but I think that if you do that in airports and metro stations you can even go to jail

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

myrnajacobs In reply to Gorgoro [2007-11-05 22:44:40 +0000 UTC]

My son got stopped by police for photographing the Brooklyn Bridge in NYC.... he pointed out that you could go down to the corner and buy them already printed up from a local photographer.... they eased up... I think they were just checking to see if he seemed suspicious. I took photos in airports a lot...

in french this kind of picture can be called : ยซ mise en abรฎme ยป.
It seems that all the world only exist to be seen through a camera, that nothing cannot exist whithout a camera, even the painting.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

myrnajacobs In reply to gilbertlayole [2007-11-03 12:06:50 +0000 UTC]

I love it when I learn a new french term or phrase. "mise en abime" Yes, that is what I thought... and I even got the idea of it being on a monitor in your home ... and that perhaps another person behind me was also taking a photo.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

gilbertlayole In reply to myrnajacobs [2007-11-03 12:17:08 +0000 UTC]

I dont how they say in english. But yes a mirror in a mirror in a mirrorโ€ฆ

The most famous ยซ mise en abรฎme ยป painting is LesMenines of Velasquez. But you sure know it.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

myrnajacobs In reply to gilbertlayole [2007-11-03 12:26:55 +0000 UTC]

Yes, I do know that one. I love that painting! (I've never seen it in person...sigh..)

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

gilbertlayole In reply to myrnajacobs [2007-11-03 12:30:15 +0000 UTC]

yes Les Menines are in the Prado. i never seen them too. But i've seen some variations painted after by Picasso. Beg you pardon for my strange english.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

myrnajacobs In reply to gilbertlayole [2007-11-03 12:38:48 +0000 UTC]

Your English is good. I wish my French was good enough to write in it. I try but it is very poor. I can read French fairly well though. there are photographers who have echoed the painting as well.
