I was near to submit a picture of my father as a graveur in the earlies of 60's and you present this jewel.

OMG. My grandfather was a blacksmith and his death was in 1932. The other granpa was as fine goldsmith (when a kid I saw he at him works)
It's a hard work, but the pleasure of the blaksmith is indescritible, in his big-horn.
An behind of it,
there is all the a History on metalurgy, and the technologic jump which had it moment when the moors created their light cymitars, with them experiences with the form and to the treatment to reorganize
the molecular structure, to have light pieces and resistence !
That's one of the lessons my father liked to told me in the last times before his death - the knowledge and sensitivity to play the job on metalurgy.

You take my sweet memories with this beautiful picture Myrna !

That is so wonderful! I hope you put up a photograph of your father doing his work. I admire craftsmen so much. It takes great skill to be good with metal. You have made me feel happy to know that a photo of mine has stirred pleasant memories.

The anvil where men forged the red-hot metal of the gods. My father had the same anvil anchored on the same solid tree trunk. I still hear the sound of hammering bending swords with in the background, the breath of the forge fire. And it was all the more impressive when we were kids.

It is still so very impressive to see. My husband had a chance to make a hook a couple of years ago. He loved the power and finesse of it. It takes one back to another time. So wonderful that you recall it from your father.

I made a poem about about the forge fire and the forge work: Dream about wings of Icare [link] But I translated only the first verse.
