I have been all over. lol travel a lot... And I've been to Texas. I used to hate it because it was soooo huge and took forever to get through. Then I started to stop and explore little towns...loved it. Got some great used boots (vintage) at a truck stop for a couple of dollars!

You said you are in Laguna...is that Laguna beach? or some other Laguna. But you shouldn't say really generally on line... the internet can be pretty dicey place... I'm just a nice lady...but some aren't. I've met a couple or three here.

I'm happy you get to go back. I'm leaving on the 12th to go visit my children (they are adults). I'll be in Los Gatos (near San Jose) for a couple of weeks. I can't wait. Then in June I'll go back and be in Long Beach, etc. whew I miss it sooooo much.

California's beautiful huh?
I love it. I went for winter break
to visit my father. It's crazy.
Everything looks the same haha.
I hadn't been there in.. 3? 4? years.
Somewhere around there.

Yes, there is no place like California, even though it's different in differnt parts of the state. There are bad things too but I always love being there... well, except all the heavy traffic! Just wait til you can drive.

Very dramatic shot, nice clouds to contrast against the long dark road, and the framing really brings the whole image out

Wow .. that sky is amazing and with that landscape being so flat and cold looking (not something I normally associate with Texas!), it's a fantastic capture!

myrnajacobs In reply to trinny2812 [2006-01-18 15:55:09 +0000 UTC]

Thanks. Texas is definitely flat (mostly) and it's got that pale look in winter and sometimes in summer. Part of the year is very hot but in Jan and Feb it can be quite cold too at least in the more northern sections of the state.

sometimes when traveling west texas as a passenger, i'll nod off, wake up, sleep, stare out the window....and always amazed that people actually crossed this land in wagons, on foot, on horseback....it never seems to end

this is a great shot yvonne.....i gotta say, the more i look at it, the better i like it

why don't my landscape pictures show such texture and depth?....damn

I have been learning new little ... ever so small tricks from a PS book I bought. I just do them once in a while. It helps.

I've had the same thought crossing our vast country. It's quite astounding that people did it by foot and by wagon!

Ah, yes, Texas. At first glimpse, I thought it was one of the great plains states, but Texas works too. That flat, vast expanse of road and sky is so much a part of the American landscape. There is a spareness to it that appeals to me, although the lushness of other parts of the country is wonderful too. Good, evocative shot.

David is scheduled to come out from SF on Sunday. He's going to help me with some of the computer stuff I need to do before getting some prints made at a good print service place, and we'll have some time to talk, eat sushi, maybe laugh a little. At the end of the month, my offspring have planned a special event -- all three will be in SF, even my New Jersey daughter. I'll stay at a hotel with my NJ daughter, and the other two will hang out with us. This is for my birthday, which is next week, but the travel arrangements couldn't be made that fast, so we are delaying until the end of the month. This is just so great of them, and I am very, very excited. There is just such a sweetness in this for me. I'm sure you know what I am talking about.
