Description
I was robbed last week. Nothing serious really, but a man walked into my back yard and stole a tail light off of an old truck we had back there within view of my studio window. I couldn't believe it when I saw him come back for the other tail light about 10 minutes later. Needless to say it pissed me off royally. I called the sheriff's department, and they caught up with the guy down the road. I went to identify the tail light, and told the sheriff that if they guy had just asked, I probably would have given him the tailights, and probably the whole truck for nothing. He said he knocked on the door but no one answered. Um, well, DUH! then don't go into someone else's yard and take something if you don't have their permission! That afternoon I started on this guy, totally inspired by the moron who stole the tail light. He's a thieving moronic troll, and has a number of hot items strung on a leather thong around his neck. He was sculpted out of polymer clay, and stands about 11 inches tall.

That is one bizarre story, but since it inspired such a great piece, maybe you should give the guy the tail lights as a thank you hehe.

LOL well I sort of did. After the sheriff caught up with him, he left it up to me whether to press charges or just let the guy pay me for it. I opted for the money, especially since I could use it, so he gave me a twenty and I told him he could come get the other one if he wanted it. He declined, so I got a 20 off of a guy who could have bought it brand new for $19.95. Muahahahaha!!!!

that's really pathetic.
you made this in a *day*?!
he's got a great ultraslow look on his face. my question is, how did he move fast enough to collect those hot items (which stand out wonderfully against the dull colors of the rest of him)? and of course i love the itsy bitsy coif. i don't think i can conprehend doing something that small! oh yeah, and the thick yellowy toenails are a great touch
*gets on the tutorial bandwagon*

Oh hell no I didn't make it in one day! I just started it the same day that the guy stole the tail light. lol I'm not that good!
Well obviously he doesn't have to be fast to get that stuff, he just has to surprise his intended victim and clobber them over the hed with that big assed club! Then he can take what he wants at his liesure!
My daughter can't quite deal with doing chain maille that small either, mainly because she does normal sized stuff, but I never worked big so I can't tell if it is harder or not. Ignorance is bliss.

a friend taught me normal size. (it was a side business for him) i did it small for jewelry, but haven't figured a way to make proper links, and i'm just too much a klutz for it. (then again, small requires less force and can be less dangerous or likely to draw blood )

Oh! Too true. I've made bigger links before for larger chains and always managed to rub my hands raw. I just use a 1/8th inche brass rod to wrap the links with. I think I use (don't quote me on this because I can't rememebr the size, and the tag on the roll has long since disappeared) either 24, 26 or 28 guage galvanized wire, and just wrap it around the rod in a tight spiral, then clip it straight down the length. Pretty easy for that light of a guage. Less of a chance of nipping the end of a finger off while pressing down hard enough to clip through heavy 18 guage wire!!

i still have scars on my wrist from the pliers bending when i tried to work with a heavy gauge stainless steel. (and this was of course freshman year abotu five minutes before my parents came to visit for the first time and i run down to open the door still blotting my wrist...)

Bwhahahaha! Oh too funny. I can imagine the looks on their faces. Yeah teh lighter guage is more like clipping through tough yellow toenails than heavy metal. Still potentially dangerous, but much easier!

This is amazing! The detail on this little guy is phenomenal. And... is he drooling?? Seriously incredible. Very amusing story, too. I can imagine this guy lumbering about your backyard stealing taillights... thieves are usually pretty stupid.
You should make a tutorial on how you sculpt. You're very good.

yup he's drooling. I figured it would lower his IQ a good 10 points that way.
