Welcome the Hell in Minecraft.For those who don't know what this place is, it's a realm which is sorta like hell. There's fire
, mushrooms, glow stones, 
lava lakes, lava coming from the ceiling, zombie pig monsters
, ghast, soul sand(sand that slows you down when walked on), and Netherracks(rocks that makes fire burn forever.)Edited: Also, don't you think about bringing a bucket of water there. Once you pure it out in there, it'll just dry up.
For those who do know this place, hope you can get there and survive. I thought this was a pretty good screenshot.

Almost a year after the Nether was added, and it doesn't look different. You also forgot about Nether Fortresses and Blazes (1.0.0) and Wither Skeletons (1.4.2).

It should be all the way down near the lava lakes or lava ocean. Just like a beach except only a few spots have those sands.

I thought they looked cute but when they see you and shoot exploding fireballs, that's gets annoying. Had to go against like all 3 of them together.

Just get lava and water, make sure the portal is 4 blocks wide, 5 blocks high, and use steel with flint on the inside of the frame and the portal will be activated.

It's on anything version. Server, Beta version, full version, anything. I did this on a cracked (free) version, beta 1.5.
