Description So waaaaaay back when I had this animal/ wolf phase ( I think all artists had either a warriors, wolf, or anime phase when starting out art tbh) I drew some wolf ocs for this story that was influenced on some Sioux/ Lakota myths. Basically all animals had one guardian that protected their race from a being named chaos ( so original) that would corrupt the body when under its influence. The wolves had two guardians but were tricked by the trickster spirits, Iktomi (spider) and Mica (coyote) and lost their guardian powers: With the wolves no longer having a celestial to protect them, it was a race for survival to find a new guardian before the wolf race perishes (something in the lines of that). I had some chapters but also I was lazy so I did like 5 chapters

Fast forward 10 years (yeah, 10) and I’m like “hey, look at all this cringe worthy wolf drawings and backstories, let’s see if I’ve improved on any of those two.” So... I migggght have some animal art/ practice references on how I draw animals if anyone is interested otherwise ignore the next few art pieces. I may drop some Lakota myths if I find it useful but meh.

Plains Pack
- Mahkah (5): A natural born leader, Mahkah is known for his strong compassion for both his pack and others. He’s known to accept strangers that come and go as they please so long as they do not bring harm to the others and help. As his territory becomes more unsafe from other predators and food becomes harder to find, he now must think on what next to do.

- Shappa (4): vicious, prudent, and quick to be paranoid, Shappa is almost the complete opposite of her mate, Mahkah. She’s cares more about the packs survival rather than any personal feelings. Because of her cruelness, many newcomers leave, but those that stay are loyal to the core. Not a fan of Misae due to her being a mother as well and ”wooing her son”

Children of Mahkah and Shappa
-Hotah (2): Similar in thinking as his mother, Hotah often questions his father’s choices on whether or not they are making themselves easy targets. He is often seen hiding in the backgrounds and observing other’s actions. Pragmatic in his approach, Hotah hopes to gain his father’s approval and gain the title as alpha when he passes

- Chumani (2): Intellectual and a friend to Misae, Chumani often butts heads with her brother, Hotah for the title of alpha. Her reasonings are to mainly piss him off. Main hunting teacher for Ciqala and Wichapi.

- Kohana (2): Lackadaisal in his lifestyle, Kohana cares little about the political rivalry of his other siblings. He’s much more interested in the new she-wolf, Misae. He’s heads over heals in love with her and hopes the two of them could leave the current one and form a pack of their own one day.

”outsiders” ( part of the pack but not by blood)
-Macha (7) the pack elder, Macha joined the pack three years ago when the alphas were struggling with hunting and taking care of the new pups alone. She’s wise beyond her years but often babbles on about old myths and legends that the new generation doesn’t seem to care about.

- Misae ( 2 1/2): Refuses to talk about her previous life prior to her pups being born, Misae is an absolute doll even when she receives the brunt of Shappa’s anger. She’s affectionate towards the other pack members and cares heavily on her pups’ survival. Returns some affections for Kohana but isn’t interested in leaving the pack anytime soon.

Ciqala (1/2): Despite being the oldest in his litter, Ciqala was born small and blind. He tries to do the best on his condition and feels terrible when others pity him too much or the other extreme. Close to his sister, Wichapi and Chumani due to them both treating him as an equal.

Wichapi (1/2): The runt of the litter, Wichapi was not expected to survive during the winter months that she was born into. Because of her near death experience, Wichapi often sees things in a very different light. Tends to hang out with Macha even with her rambling, she still finds comfort in those stories.
