Description
Late spring mornings these little guys can be found clustered together like this under the bark of fallen trees...and when the sun warms up the bark, they really start moving and flying around.Related content

Thanks David I have a photo somewhere of my hand, just overflowing with them, but I like this one much better.

OOoooh, I love the motion of this, and the colour. When I saw the thumnail I thought it was a picture of kidney beans! A great shot, mia.

Ive hardly ever seen more than one ladybug - this is excellent - ive always wondered what they would look like in a colony (would it be called a coloney) for the rare and beautiful picture

Imagine when you are trying to swim in the river or hike around and they are swarming in the air like locust....they land all over you...its really creeepy...they are "cute" and "little"and all, but they become an army when they take flight together. I guess some of us could probably learn a little lesson from nature in that.

Great capture! I'm in love with that spiral of lady bugs! The colours are amazing!
It's a shame about the depth of field. That wood has amazing textures and really tops off the subject. The out of focus wood at the bottom of the photo, unfortunately ruins the impact as my eyes were drawn to it just as much as the lady bugs. Though this may only be for me.
Outstanding photo despite your disadvantages using your macro lens.

Thank you so much for the comment...the macro lens definitely has disadvantages...that, and I am not a very skilled photography...I think luck is on my side with my successful shots....but your comment is appreciated.

I really like this picture, I just have one problem with it. Here in Iowa where I live there are these beetles that look just like lady bugs except more orange and they are absolutely everywhere!!! You cannot escape them! Kimmy has piles of them in her garages on her farm from last year. So what I'm saying is I get the creeps because it reminds me of how the massive swarms of them pelt you in the face.
But other then that, this picture is incredibly, great colors and contrast.
Sorry for being so silly : ) I just got done reading 20 pages in one of my textbooks, it tends to do that.
Anyways! heh, GREAT PIC!!!!!

Whoa. I've never seen them like this before. They always just swarm me when I'm outside. Anyways, great marco. Very good focus, and I really like the colors.
This is a very rare site to see where I live by.

That's really nifty. I've only seen those buggers one at a time before. I didn't realize they also came in bulk packs.

thank you so much...the DoF is really hard for me with that macro, particularly when I don't use a tripod...but I am trying to improve so any cc is welcome. Thanks again.

Woah indeed. I haven't seen a single ladybug for a Long Time.
At first I thought they were going to be beans or something from the thumbnail. But wow. So much life, very together. It's amazing how few there are escaping in proportion to the huge mass of them right there. But the couple that are on the fringe really help the form a lot.
Slugs and bugs and creepy crawlies!

hehe. Well they were still kinda cuddling when I turned the piece of wood over and stole the shot. I quickly and gently put them back they way I found them, but as the sun comes out they start to crawl about and fly around....sometimes I've gone camping there and hung out at the water, and you could see millions of them flying around in the air. In a minute or two, several ladybugs would land on you....it got to be annoying...but that is only once a season I think. Thank you for the comment.
