Description
This was an unquestionably personal experience for me. Art for me should be personal. No matter how much good is around, I take it for granted. Those words on the shield represent me, and I'm too drained to add more. I isolate myself knowing one day, I'll certainly do what I say I won't regret. Perhaps I can use self-loathing as my defense - what can you do to me if I am already so miserable, so worthless, so contemptible? Perhaps I should title my next piece - I AM SO F***ING LOST.
Towards the end of last year my Mum and Dad returned (after one year and six years respectively). A lot of self esteem was again lost.
Three months ago I began this drawing. I made a sketch of a masked woman with an elongated hourglass figure. And as I do, eyes, organic forms, a horned skull and the number four emerged alongside lost motifs. I feel relieved that even with all that is going on, at least art will not be lost.
As the name suggests, I'm in some way inspired by the late Scottish/English designer whose work fashioned women into icons of dangerous power, Lee Alexander.
