Description When I heard that Ren Hang ended his life this year, I didn't know what to feel. Then my last art tutor/mentor finally got convicted. Just two more muses. Another two more tragedies.

In the Taschen book I last bought from my favourite shop, Ren Hang once wrote in his documentations about his depression:

Life is really one
Precious gift
But sometimes I feel that
It has been given to the wrong person

Just another fucking lonely artist who needs someone to be touched by.

This piece already grabbed my attention even before I read the description, but afterwards All the details took on a far deeper meaning.  This is a truly astounding memorial and brilliant tragic social statement.  The pathos really touched me.

Your words are very insightful Edward - I really appreciate hearing your feedback. Indeed, tragedy and suffering is part of life - we all have a part to play and it's our choice what we value and uphold regardless.

Usually I prefer comical statements when I post, but that would have been grossly inappropriate here.  That quote you posted from Ren Hang is incredibly powerful, and yet another reminder why it is so important to be real genuine caring people.  I took that as an affirmation of why me trying to leave amusing comments is actually a powerful thing.  You never know when you could be the ray of hope that lifts somebody's wounded spirit.  Powerful stuff indeed.

I am blushing from your high praise, you coy flatterer you. LOL

See!  There I go with the humor again. XD

This beautiful piece exudes grief to a degree it becomes tangible. Absolutely lovely with all its fine, intricate details and forms flowing into one another.

I'm sorry for your loss. In a lot of ways, I believe creative types have it more difficult than others; I am convinced we experience much of life, especially emotions, to greater heighs (and depths) than most.

I too have suffered with depression, and found art (both creating and enjoying works of others), the natural world, and physical activity to be the best medicine for those lows. Though I can only speak for my own experience, I hope that you (or anyone else reading this) sees, knows, and truly believes that they are important, and loved, and would be missed if they left us.

I bid you find peace in the dificult days ahead.

Hey Kevin, it means a lot to read your words. They're encouraging and often what I need to keep going. It's a hard ball, life, but however we throw it, it'll land somewhere and we just have to deal.
