Description
~I hereby give permission to *DesigningDivas and ~GIMPtacular to display this workChangelog:
This tutorial will teach you how to create a planet using Gimp, the open-source version of Photoshop.
I did my best to turn this tut into a real cake recipe, so i'm sure you won't find any problem in learning how to create your own planets.
The file is in PDF format and has 8,5 Megs. I know it's big but it is because the tut is very illustrative
If you have any questions feel free to post them here
Have a good reading, as well as a pleasant space travel

Let's analyse your planet: Since you were trying to create a rocky planet, then clouds are optional but the surface is pretty nice however. About the outer glow, remember that the size of my planet at the tut is 4000 x 4000, for that reason i used "35" in the "Grow Selection" window. You have to decrease that number a bit if you worked on a small canvas. About the shadow i believe that you accidentally moved the shadow layer a bit to the left, for that reason i see some imperfections on the right side of the shadow.
Just to finish, remember that the color of the outer glow must match the color of the planet's surface, for that reason i used a light brown for the outer glow because the color of the surface of my planet is brown.
Keep trying, bro. Art is like making pancakes... the first one isn't always perfect

It's a good tut, and i only found 1 spelling mistake. instead of blast near the beginning, is says bast.
besides that, the size of the image made my computer laggy, but that isn't the tut's fault
