Description Simply put, here's the Magic World map from Negima! in the Robinson projection.

The original maps in the manga were based on upside down topographical maps of our Mars, which were in the equirectangular projection (a very simple projection).

I took my vector-traces of the original maps (plus a lot of guesswork), stretched them to 2x1 size (the original was a little off), and then used NASA's G-Projector to transform the equirectangular projection into Robinson projection.

Robinson projection is one of the more familiar projections around, and has been used for a lot of stuff, so using it for this map should give a bit better picture of the general geography of the Magic World in Negima than using equirectangular.

This time I didn't go for much fancy filtering or Here Be Dragons.

EDIT:

In fact, I've stripped this down to its bare components.

Your maps are really amazing. Could you please upload this map also in Equirectengular projection?

No problem. I'm not sure whether that particular image is 2x1, but the original maps were... Unprojected, mixed up maps that didn't really have any real projection (because Akamatsu seemingly knows nothing about cartography). If you need it to be equirectangular (like I), just stretch it so that it's 2x1 in size, and that should do it.

Of course the original NASA maps Akamatsu traced to make the maps in the manga *were* equirectangular, so a fix shouldn't break the map.

That's pretty cool.
I wish I had known about G.Projector before now. I have to try it!
