It is a compliment you deserve. I am mightly impressed! I enjoy viewing your lovely works. I can always tell that you had fun creating them. It can be shown in the lovely thick paint and your liberated brush stokes. The internal happiness oozes out of the painting towards the viewer.

I am enjoying so much looking at your beautiful painting again tonight. We are having a lot of rain, and Oh the Golden Hay! I think he is working by himself because everyone else in his family went to town, and when the clouds came out he had to gather in the hay by himself before it was rained on! I just love this painting, Nancy! Have fun with :santaclause: on his birthday!!!

You must be absolutely right Sara about our man in the golden hay. I love your observation. And I appreciate you coming back to the field once more! Thank you! We had a great St. Nicolaas together!

We do, but only with a few small presents and ofcourse the X-mastree and lots of light and X-mas-songs and talking about what X-mas actually is...... And how about yourself? How do you celebrate Christmas?

Nancy, I think that you have a better idea in the Netherlands. Here, Christmas and Santa Claus are too mixed up together. We have a Christmas tree and sing songs by the fire and exchange presents. Jeff plays the piano and the keyboard a little, and I really enjoy that.

Nancy, just this morning I was remembering a book that we read when we were children, about Christmas all around the world. There was a drawing of darling little Dutch children putting their wooden shoes at the foot of their beds so that St. Nicholas could put treats into them.

Today I am sending a painting to my friend in Durham, N.C. for Christmas! Roos enclosed a drawing as well. Hopefully my friend will like it!

Oh no Sara....I met her through Bas on the internet 6 years ago. We had so much in common...we are soulmates. I love Phyllis dearly. We met 2 years ago, she visited me with her husband. We had a wonderful day in summer. We took them with a boat through canals, we picknicked, visited a mill together. She stayed in a hotel by the sea. Still makes me cry when I think of that day. It was perfect. It was such a thrill to meet her after mailing, chatting and talking over the phone.....She is a dedicated teacher for Latin kids, has a degree in French and knows so much about art. She is a wonderful person. Now you know much more about Phyllis. Bytheway, the painting is on its way over the big pond now! xx

She does teach English to Latin kids, to be precise, Sara! My English could use some teaching as well to make myself clear LOL!!! I do have a big heart indeed....I know and I am so glad there is so much room in it for lots of wonderful people, like you.

Is very demanding work with yellow colour. I admire your accomplishment with her. I have always longed paint a field with cereals, but me never miscarried. Is it really beautiful theme, the field, the hidden horizon, the man at work, sheaves. Is special beautiful how the spike handle of skie, those gentle differences of light and shade within between them. Great works!!!

I know this sounds a bit unusual for me but how about trying some different techniques, maybe a thinner brush, sometimes the best way to take your skills to a new level are to learn other forms of work. It looks great, how about the same image but maybe a less impressionistic style? Just figured I'd try and set you a challenge.
I'd quite like you to give me one if you wouldn't mind?

NancyvandenBoom In reply to yorksherpud [2005-11-21 21:16:38 +0000 UTC]
I see no reason why taking thinner brush? What I am doing is what I like, and through that way I am learning. The fact is, I want to use the thickest brush if possible. And I really dont see why I should go on work on a "less impressionistic style". I am not out for the i.s. at all. I am doing what I feel like. I wont take the challenge Duncan! Thanks for commenting though, glad you visited my gallery again after a long time!
How are you doing?
