Description Plumey Bitties, Tophat Plumey, Kiwi Plumey, and Roadie Plumey (c) NanoBanana
Bittybones AU (c) Fucken-Crybaby

===HOW DO I ADOPT A PLUMEY?===
You just decide to and do! They are totally and completely free for anyone to adopt, so no need to ask (I'll always say yes). You can adopt as many as you like, just make sure to take care of them. You can write about your Plumey/Plumies or draw them, change their clothes, give them accessories, etc. The types described here are like describing the differences between a German Shepard dog and a Great Dane dog. They're all Plumies, just different "breeds", if you will.

If you adopt a Plumey, please make sure to credit me for the creation of the species and type.
Also, DO NOT adopt them just to kill or maim them (or let other Bitties and creatures kill or maim them). Also also, DO NOT clip their wings. That’s just cruel.

A new set of Plumies! These ones all share one trait in common: they cannot fly. Please take care of them and make sure to read through their info below.

Tophat Plumey (Example of natural calls )
    Height / Wing Length: 6.0 - 9.0” (15.2 - 22.9cm) / 4.5 - 6.0” (11.4 - 15.2cm)
Plumage: White with black edges; black with white edges; brown with black edges; brown with white edges; blonde with black edges; blonde with white edges; white with blonde edges
    Diet: Omnivore
Favorite Food: Based on individual preferences
Superstition: This type is said to lessen the anxiety of those around them.
Traits: Mild and gentle, good with children, they tend to be rather unaware of their surroundings and can be easily startled (may come across as nervous or flighty due to this), talking or whistling a bit before approaching them can help them be less inclined to startle, very inquisitive, likely to investigate new things (can get stuck somewhere and need help getting back out), if they get separated from you or their companions they will cry out (or respond to those calling for them), excellent climber, can handle most all climates, doesn't like getting wet
Notes: Not territorial in the slightest (and can often get picked on by other Plumies because of this). Dedicated parent. They molt their plumage once a year near the end of the summer. They will often need vitamin supplements and extra protein when they are molting. They can be prone to smalls colds and infections if not well cared for. They tend to have poor vision and are usually near-sighted. This type of Plumey cannot fly.

Kiwi Plumey (Example of natural calls )
    Height / Wing Length: 3.1 - 5.4” (7.9 - 13.7cm) / 1.0 - 1.7” (2.5 - 4.3cm)
    Plumage: Light to dark brown
Diet: Omnivore (prefers high protein foods)
Favorite Food: Worms and other slimey food (eww)
Superstition: This type is said to bring love and contentment to those around them.
Traits: Dedicated to those they consider family, self-sacrificing, humble, helpful and kind, practical, straight-forward, doesn't lie or exaggerate, well-meaning but can be considered blunt
Notes: Generally not territorial. They shed their feathers like how most cats and dogs shed their fur: year round and a little at a time. This type of Plumey has very poor eyesight and many are considered completely blind (some are even born with dull or missing eyelights). They rely on their other senses to get around, especially their sense of smell (which is particularly sensitive). These Plumies only lay one egg at a time. This type of Plumey cannot fly.

Roadie Plumey (Example of natural calls )
    Height / Wing Length: 6.0 - 6.5” (15.2 - 16.5cm) / 2.3 - 3.3” (5.8 - 8.4cm)
Plumage: Brown and white in a distinctive pattern (see image) with blue to teal highlights
    Diet: Omnivore
    Favorite Food: Meat (especially snake)
Superstition: This type is said to keep illness away.
Traits: Fast on their feet, quick-witted, brave, will work together with others to accomplish tasks, charismatic, confident, curious, unafraid to explore new things (since they can run away easily if they need to), very smart, loves challenges
Notes: Territorial. Some will molt their plumage at least once a year while others slowly molt year round (like a dog or cat shedding their fur). Has "X"-shaped feet. They will use their wings to leap up higher, but ultimately cannot fly. They can glide down from heights however.

Thank you! I like the Tophat a lot, too.

Plumies are, at least for the time being, all based on existing bird species, but there isn't necessarily a Plumey type for every bird species. The Tophat Plumies are based on Polish Chickens and the Redbird Plumies are based on Northern Cardinals for example.

I've been debating about making a Dodo Plumey, though I'm not sure yet whether or not I'm going to venture into extinct bird species just yet.

Good questions though!

Now here's a question for you Nano If I put a male of one species of Plumey with a female of another species of Plumey--do I need to worry about them attempting toooo make more Plumies? Because you have mentioned that they're the same species, just different breeds. So I was just wondering XD

NanoBanana In reply to KiwiCalamity [2020-04-10 16:39:37 +0000 UTC]

Good question!

Yes, if you have Plumies from different types/breeds, they can form a mate-bond and start producing offspring. They don't even need to be different genders to do it either.

When a pair of Plumies want to produce offspring, they mix their magic and form the start of 1-3 souls (or only one in the case of the Kiwi Plumey). Usually, the stronger Plumey or the Plumey with the greatest magic pool will house the growing souls within their body. The developing souls can be transferred to the other parent or a close family member if needed, but this only happens when something truly traumatic occurs (like the death of the carrier parent). The mated pair will continue to share their magic frequently in order to help the souls of their offspring grow.

When it comes time to lay the egg(s), the souls will be brought out of the carrier parent and a protective shell will form around each soul individually. The Plumey parents will cuddle the eggs, sharing their magic and forming familial bonds. Eventually the eggs will hatch, leaving the shell to disintegrate into dust (just like how Monsters turn to dust).

So long answer short, yes, they can crossbreed! Something important to note: all offspring involving a flightless Plumey will always be flightless.
