Oh, it's quite easy! I just use a normal pencil and lie the pencil tip flat on its side to shade the background to get the "chalky" effect. Gotta be careful around the edges, tho '3'

LOL gosh no: I used the flat side first, and then sometimes I'd add a bit of crosshatching on top to "texturize" it.
