The shrill sound created by the wings of this broad-tailed hummingbird is silenced for a few moments as he perches in a tree. This tiny bird was keeping a sharp eye out for other males, running them out of his area whenever one got close. These birds take off and fly so fast that it's extremely hard to keep track of them. Luckily for me, this particular bird would return to this same branch after almost every flight, allowing me a few minutes to photograph him.

Oh wow, you've made me so happy by posting this picture! The hummingbirds have been crazily active outside my bedroom window lately, and I've become completely obsessed with watching the little buggers swoop and buzz and fly and beak sword fight XD
I've gone after them with my camera a few times but they are really tricky little guys to capture! Don't you just wish they're invent an eyeball camera already? Haha. Props to you for getting such an amazing and up-close shot, he's really a pretty one C:

This is a perfect example of how amazing you are. I've tried taking photos of hummingbirds, and it's hard.

I love the way you captured the iridescence on the breast plumage. The way you photographed it, the nature of the color is really clearly expressed.
Your photographs never cease to astound.
