there must have been a strong wind underneath those clouds to have made them that smooth or something lol

I've commented this before but I'm wondering if you have any advice about shooting lightning shots?

the technique i use for shooting lightning (and im sure it varies depending on who you ask) is like this...
first find your focus point... if its a bright night or the lightning is enough to temporarily light the scene than you can just focus like that. otherwise set your focus to infinity.
next set your aperature to somewhere between 2.8 and 5.6... depending on the light at the time. this is something youll probably have to just experiment with to get your best results.
use a shutter release cable and set your camera to bulb...
click the shutter and hold it down until you see a flash of lightning.. once the lightning strikes immediately release the shutter.
this is the easiest way ive found to shoot lightning and like i said before im sure there are a million techniques out there. your shots will vary depending on how long you have the shutter open for, but if its a dark enough night you can pretty much keep the shutter open until you see some lightning.
hope that helps! good luck

Sounds easier enough. I am wondering how to set the focus to infinity? I've heard of it before but not quite sure how to do so.
Thanks for your help

I have attempted to capture lightening on more than one occasion. I have yet to have the kind of success you display here. A very cool shot indeed.
