Speaking as someone who hunts elk, there is truly nothing that compares to the beauty of a full grown and healthy bull elk. There is a humbling feeling one experiences when you climb the mountains that they scale so easily (while you are huffing and puffing with a 10-13 pound rifle in hand and a 20+ pound backpack on). Of course, I suppose thats why most elk hunters use horses....

Absolutely beautiful shot, the diffused light is perfect, great background tossed out of focus, and what an impressive elk in general.

ahhh...beautiful...there isn't a prettier animal than an elk...majestic as he lifts his head up and his antlers tip back over his rump...that soft melodic bugle turns into a vengeful scream as he circles his harem...thank you for flooding my mind with beautiful memories

lol. who knows. I probably mistake them for your average deer, although I'm not sure if that is even possible. Or maybe I just really stink or something...

Re this post, your focus is always great, making the photo quite beautiful. And there is a certain amount of warmth to it as well. Not really the light, but maybe bec of the softness in the colours of the surroundings.
I'd have preferred to have the elk more to the left of the composition, though... to give him more space to walk. You know that comfort factor for your eye/brain... when you're viewing a photo of someone/something in motion, you give them room to move within the frame? But I guess this may sometimes depend on circumstances during the shoot, and having to take quick shots of moving animals in the wild.

Do you have a book? You should do a book. Daunting task, I'm sure. But it would be great to have a whole bunch of nature shots together... a book of glossy nzeman goodness.

I'm moving to Denver within 2 months -- of course I know I'm moving when it's going to snow, but hey it's a start, lol. Great shot btw.
