Description
To purchase this image as an exclusive limited edition print please visit my website @ WWW.NATEZEMAN.COMA pikas work is never done. They live high on the alpine tundra and do not hibernate. They spend the short summer months constantly harvesting grasses. They use these grasses to turn into hay and live off of during the long brutal winter. It's pretty crazy to watch these little guys. Working literally all day. Running from the rocks to the grass, taking these bundles of grass to their winter storage spot. They are not that easy to get a photo of though. Pika are tiny, fast and very skittish. I sat still on a rock for about an hour and a half before I captured this one.

Oh, wow...awesome. I've been wanting to get a picture of one of these guys for so long, but, as you say, they're amazingly elusive. A great shot.

I adore pikas. I believe they are a fairly easy animal to approach?
Great shot Nate.

theyre pretty easy to approach.. the problem is they are constantly moving and hardly ever sit still.. so getting the shot of its mouth full was tough!

Yeah, sorry - I realise that. All wildlife shots take loads of effort.
Anyhow - super shot.

What a fortunate capture, it's interesting you never really see animals like this, actually working.

awesome shot and composure, both of you and the photo, that would have taken a good deal of patience and then self control for keeping yourself composed
