Description
To purchase this image as an exclusive limited edition print please visit my website @ WWW.NATEZEMAN.COMAshcroft's history is a brief one. It began with promising silver finds by prospectors from Leadville in 1879. Quickly pioneers began to settle here. By 1885 the population of Ashcroft was nearing 2,500. However, nearby Aspen was also experiencing a boom of its own. Residents began abandoning Ashcroft as quickly as they had settled it. By 1890 most of the businesses had closed. The devaluation of silver in 1893 was the fatal blow. The post office closed in November of 1912, and only a few hardy men were left. Jack Leahy, the towns last resident died in 1939, officially rendering Ashcroft a ghost town. Many of the original buildings exist yet today. This is the Hotel View. Still standing proudly among a grove of aspens. Not yet forgotten.

Although I like both, I like this one better because your eyes are drawn to the building rather than the mountains. The blue sky and the yellow aspens frame the hotel nicely.

i do like the color contrast of the blue and yellow in this shot, but i like how the mountains are more prominent in the other, thanks for the input!

Yes. The mountains are beautiful in the other but the contrast in this one excites my eyes.

Nice...It's interesting how you chose to photograph this building. The hotel being in the background or in the back of the image it doesn't take on more interest then the landscape. Everthing seem to read on the same level. Trees, sky and the building or hotel.

yeah i hope it looks ok. thats kinda what i was going for.. i wanted it to just blend in with its surroundings, not overwhelm the whole shot

Wonderful autumn shot. Can it be that the GND is visible on the trees?

Nate-Zeman In reply to AndreasResch [2008-09-29 00:39:32 +0000 UTC]
hmmm i dont think so.. where do you see it?
π: 0 β©: 1
AndreasResch In reply to Nate-Zeman [2008-09-29 05:09:01 +0000 UTC]
The top of the leftmost big tree is just darker than it's center which looked a bit unnatural to me as the tips usually are brighter. If it's no GND the maybe you darkened the sky and the trees together? I can be wrong though.

You must have some kind of special arrangement with Mother Nature. Did you slip her a twenty or something when the rest of us weren't looking?
Awesome work, as usual.
