Description
Out of the four concepts I felt that this one was closest to Lovecraft's description of the Mi-Go.The Mi-Go are an alien race of creatures from H.P. Lovecraft's "The whisperer in Darkness".

Alright, this one certainly fits the description of their two toed claws.

The Mi-Go have always been my favorite Lovecraftian creatures; they're so fascinating and I loved how Lovecraft described them in The Whisperer in Darkness. I enjoy all of your Mi-Go concept drawings, but I agree that this one is especially faithful to the original description. The awkwardly-jointed limbs, talons, flimsy wings, crustacean-like body... this guy is a great Mi-Go depiction. He's certainly a handsome fungoid alien, huh?
Anyway, enough of my rambling. Very cool work!

This is so fantastic! I'm about to start a stand-alone Call of Cthulhu adventure that revolves around the Mi-Go mythos and this is very inspiring.

Very well done, I love to see peoples interpretations of Lovecrafts creatures. I am curious tho why this is so widely accepted as the "migo" if one looks at the text from the Whisperer in the darkness is says:
"No use, either, to point out the even more startlingly similar belief of the Nepalese hill tribes in the dreaded Mi-Go or βAbominable Snow-Menβ who lurk hideously amidst the ice and rock pinnacles of the Himalayan summits."
Not to detract from the art, its just always bothered me that people call this a Mi-Go, when to me it is clear a Mi-go is a yeti.

Impressive, very close to the description in the story, i personally think the energy ball is also a cool addition. Nice choice with the lack of eyes

I think the great H.P.L. would have loved it.
Incidentally it's not my favorite story of his: I prefer those more grounded in the past like The Unnamable or Pickman's model. Still, you made me want to read it again.

I like most of his stories except the Dream cycle ones, those I have a hard time getting into.

*shudders* chilling. WITD is one of my favourite Lovecraft stories and this is a great representation of the Mi-go. I think he has his ups and downs but WITD is one of the best, and Shadow over Innsmouth. I don't like his dream based ones much though and found Unknown Kadath a MASSIVE pain to get through. It read a lot like Tolkien to me, in a bad way, too many things we're supposed to know about shoved into one story.

I got to say that I feel the same way. WITD is an awesome story but I am not a fan of most his dream based worlds. I just have a hard time with them.

It's funny how even though a lot of his stories are a little predictable in this day and age, since they've been copiedf so often since, and yet still make compelling reading. e.g. The Picture in the House has a fairly obvious twist, but it's so atmosperically written it's one of my favourites.

This is by far the creepiest rendering of a Mi-go I've ever seen. Your talent for detail is incredible.
I'm wondering if I may use this picture as part of a new Elder Gods gift app in Facebook. It's silly, I know, but it's my way of infusing Facebook with a little Lovecraft. I can't credit you directly, but your signature will remain in the picture (I won't be altering it at all.) You can see the finished app by searching facebook for "Elder Gods Gifts", or I can send you a URL on request.
Please let me know if it's okay for me to use your work this way.
Thanks
Wendy

There's something about the overall pose, the position of the limb joints and the curves of that exoskeleton that suggest a sickly, weird corruption. The hind legs look positively awkward - which is good, because Lovecraft's creations should baffle. And those wings, I feel, are just as HPL suggested - almost laughably feeble and ragged looking due to being suited for flight in the airy interstellar aethers rather than in plain ol' Earthly air.
All four of these guys are wonderful but I agree - this is the feller to illustrate Whisperer - a top notch Mi-Go. Lovely!

Hideous!
But artisticaly in the very best of ways.
Though
Nr 1 captures all my buglove
and Nr 3 has a more Lovecraftian feel to it,
this is my personal favorite for the role of Mi-Go
mainly because it is the furthest away from all known earthly species...
Is this art for a new edition of Lovecraft books or to be used in RPG-rulebooks?
This entire series of concepts has this great RPG Monsters Compendium-feel ... wonderfull ^^

Never read the book, but I do find this one most appealing. As it is the most alien of the bunch. Interesting anatomy.

You're right - you nailed it on this concept. While the physical descriptions Lovecraft gives are slightly different than the concepts you've been working on, I think this one gets the *feel* of the beasties just right - the combination of weird, dissonant elements gives me the right impression of Something Definitely Is Not Right.
I also like the way you made all four of these drawings look like pages taken from a naturalist's field diary or something.
