(INITIATE LONG SPEECH BECAUSE I FEEL LIKE IT.)

Derpy Hooves is by far my favorite character in the series.

When I first heard about her from my brother, I wasn't a "brony" yet. When he told me her name, I asked him, "Wait, so you mean they actually said that in the show?" And he replied, telling me that the fans gave her that name and how she was only a background character.

As I began watching episodes, whenever I saw Derpy Hooves, I just got a little excited. Moreso than when any other character had an episode or a scene. I never knew why, but for some reason I just took to her so well.

Although I wasn't outwardly a "brony", I still enjoyed the show, and began watching it officially at the start of season 2. When I saw Season 2: Episode 4, "Luna Eclipsed", I was happy when I saw that Derpy had her own direct scene while pulling the plug from the Apple Bobbing bucket, or tank, or whatever you call it. Seeing her, for some reason, just made me happy.

I was in denial for quite some time about being a "brony" (I keep putting it in quotes because technically, the term these days is 'pegasister' for females, but I don't like being called that.) and just kept telling myself that it was an entertaining show, but that I wasn't a real huge fan or anything. Then, that day came.

That one day. The day on which Season 2: Episode 14, "The Last Roundup", aired on TV for the first time. (Technically, my brother and I don't have cable, so we always watched episodes on the computer once they were uploaded after the actual episode aired earlier that day.) While watching calmly, we came across the scene that surprised almost everyone. I heard Rainbow Dash say the name, "Derpy". I couldn't believe it. As dramatic as this is, I honestly almost saw it as a dream. Could they have seriously said that? I was almost worried, because I didn't know if they COULD say that, because it was an internet term and might not have been good for the show. Then, I heard her speak, and although I was disappointed at first with her deep voice, it grew on me.

Derpy Hooves was named.
She spoke.
She had a conversation with a main character.
She was, her and her name, officially canon.

I didn't even remember the lesson of the episode after I watched it. Almost all I thought about, was Derpy, and I thought it would be great if I heard her speak again. On this day, I can say that this was probably the day that made me officially consider becoming a true fan of the show. I was so excited about it. I was all over it. And now, because of Derpy Hooves herself, I became a brony sooner than expected. I'm having fun, and I've met good people. Now, I realize that if I keep claiming that I don't care what people think of me or what I like, I should act like it. Like what I like, and dislike what I dislike, regardless of it's popularity, reputation, or what people may think of me afterwards. Although I was on my way with learning this, you taught me this a lot sooner than I expected I would learn it. And you did it in under 5 minutes, simply by showing us your voice, and making yourself and your name, officially known throughout the fandom.

Thank you, Derpy Hooves.

My story may not be touching or important, but it was a bit of a big thing for me.

To me, you will always be best pony.

AAAND... Big speech over. But really, I love Derpy. :3 She's adorable, and definitely my favorite. You can only imagine after all that, how bad I was reacting to all the re-dubs...

Okay, well, anyway...

So I tried a new coloring style, and realized it was perfect for this picture because Derpy's thing is bubbles, and so the bubbly lighting and shading works great. ;D I enjoyed this a lot.

I hope you guys like this picture, because I certainly do... I think I'm doing a lot better than I thought I would.
