Here's my hat for reference: [link]

PROTIP: If you need help keeping it on your head, try one of two things: bobby pins on the sides if you don't mind them showing, OR if you do, try cutting small slits parallel to the brim of the hat inside it to slide the pins into. This should keep it secure all around :3

Feel free to come to me with questions.

WANT AN OCARINA?
You can buy a nice ocarina from songbirdocarina.com for $30
that is either the fairy ocarina or the ocarina of time. They sound beautiful and work great for cosplay!

HAPPY SEWING!!!

First girl in the hat is me, second girl is ~ go give her some love

Hi, I am working on the part where you attach the headband to the body. I don't really understand exactly what to do or how to make it so the seams don't show. Could you please send me more detailed instructions on this part? Much appreciated, thanks.

thank you sooooooooooooooooo much~!

My friend made one half way through the last school year and wore it everyday to school after that. The funniest comment we ever got? Everyone is gathered in a utter mess in the halls, waiting in many different lines to get our schedules for the next semester. I had already gotten my schedule online, along with my friend, so we were waiting with my twin until the bell rung. Some comes up to us whilst we chat and asks, "Is that a sock?" she responds "um... no..?"

This strange person walks away back off through the crowds from wist he came, shouting to some people "I told you it wasn't a sock!" I wondered about these people, considering he talked/looked as if he was on something, along with his friends.. Maybe they were, would explain the comment, maybe

xD My sis made one too, and I'm finishing up mine right now. Since we're twins, we figured it'd be cool to attend our first con in a few days as Link and Dark Link. She'll be re-making one in black for her cosplay. It helps we have really long blond hair, we'll pin it up right under the hat for the bangs. This helped us so much, thank you again~!

AWESOME!
How can you make it 'poofey' like Link's in the game...so that it doesn't fall flat...??

nayruasukei In reply to M0bi [2010-08-25 01:17:35 +0000 UTC]

You could try to use interfacing to stiffen up the fabric~

Shell-O-Ronie In reply to nayruasukei [2010-05-24 05:19:13 +0000 UTC]

I used a dark green material to make the pillow part, and i just sewed 3 triangles in the middle to make a Triforce. No, my Triforce wasn't green if that was what you were thinking. Haha

Actually, just finishing up the hat now. I'll post pics this evening... Took your pattern and put a little color twist on it... This would have been much easier with a sewing machine.

Here are my pics. I got a couple of questions because the next one is gonna be suede like you suggested.

1. Did you work the leather out with your hands first because tying that was a pain.

2. The gapped look. How did you do that? Did you pinch a piece of fabric and then sew it up or how did you do it?

Thank you again, this was a great way to spend a few days and a wonderful reminder to buy a sewing machine.

nayruasukei In reply to Jade-Starrz [2010-05-15 04:21:51 +0000 UTC]

The leather I worked with just plain ol' as-is. It doesnt want to bend well, but it works.
The gap was pinched fabric just like you said.

Excellent and thank you!

I worked that leather for 2 hours... I have blisters.

Thank you though, I really appreciate the pattern and tutorial.

Pin the outsides together and sew a line where they meet-- when you take out the pins and unfold it, you have a smooth line C:
