Description
So here's part 2 of my tutorial, the goal is to teach newbies the "meat" you could say of what makes your kaiju, well a Kaiju!I had a personal deadline of Oct. 31, so I am pretty dissapointed it wasn't finished by the time of submission. Deadlines are pretty important to me, but life got in the way so I didn't have as much time like I wanted. That's OK though, as since I have time now to finish up on my requests.

My Kaiju size standard is around 229 feet, so average in your perspective.

My Kaiju, Agguira, is actually based off of traits I loved from other Kaiju. For example, her base and stance is based off Zilla, whereas her long tail and glowing red Belly is actually reminiscent of Kamata-kun and Shin's forth form. Her pulsing blue Dorsal plates are reminiscent of 2014 and 2019's dorsal plates. Her backstory of being an accidental creation by Humans, is reminiscent of Biollante. Her use of protection for humans is reminiscent of Kiryu. And though it may not sound original, her design and story actually is.

Welp...
I seem to have failed drasticly on the size part.
By making a Kaiju with practicly no size limitation (Only limited to oxygen intake).
So, yea, with a start lenght of 90 m. and a height probably at 30... But with the ability to constantly and slowly gain size and strenght.
...
Yea, Better not loose sight of THAT Kaiju for to long.Β Β

Size limits are basically an aspect of storytelling. If you can make a kaiju super huge but makes sense in the context of ur story, or (usually) as a indomitable foe that your hero has to overcome, then it's still okay.

Yea... here's where i belive the problem occures.Β
Caus (so far) I haven't though out any specific story for my Kaijus. I simply make them caus i like the design i manage to give them...
So, yea... XP

I have a question.
Do you have any tips on "naming" the kaiju? I'm not good at naming characters but naming creatures is even worse. I'd really appreciate some good tips on how to come up with my own name.Β

NazRigar In reply to MartianManFromMars [2017-01-17 09:13:32 +0000 UTC]
Naming kaijus are both a rather smiple venture, but you have to be careful. Generally naming a kaiju is a combination of using the right syllables, modifications and meaning.
For example I named my kaiju Jovis, as a modified version of "Jove", the Roman thunder god, to better reflect his strength.
Using the right choice of letters also effects the kaiju's name, "k", "y" and "z are letters that feel more "alien", so they could work a in a kaiju name.
There's really a lot you can do with names, it's all about having fun with 'em.

On part 3 are you going to cover flying Kaiju?
Also, instead of just 1 Zarbat, could we just use a swarm?

I was planning on trying on part 3 for a LONG time, but due to my focus on school and especially my current project, I can't say when I'm going to make it.
Hopefully I'll find some time... as well as the proper research...

Ah, makes sense. IMO I think you should cover abilites more in part 3 when you get around to it.
Good luck with your project and school work! ^_^

This is very helpful. I've been thinking about making a Kaiju story myself. While I have a great idea of what I want, I'm worried that it may come off too much like the usual stories we've heard. I want a Kaiju who's design echoes Godzilla, but I don't want to make him a G copy cat. I want anΒ Ultraman type hero but I want it to come off believable and different. It'sΒ hard.Β Β

Hey there, I am planning to make a classic Β or boxer/wrestler type of kaiju, and maybe a flying one, and I was wondering what kind of tips would you give me.Β
π: 0 β©: 1
NazRigar In reply to neme567 [2015-08-29 18:07:13 +0000 UTC]
...hm... The first tip I would give is what kind of creature you want in the first place? Mammal, reptile, amphibian? Because they can all be either.
Another tip is, in regards to making a classic kaiju is that you have to find a way to make your kaiju to be different from others from the get-go. How exactly do you want your kaiju not look like a Godzilla knock off? Maybe he's hunched over a bit, or perhaps he's covered entirely in fur, there's many options really!
For a boxing kaiju, there's actually many ways you can handle, perhaps make it like a naga, with a serpent/slug or tail instead of legs, maybe you'd like to add more arms to your kaiju.
BUT before you do anything, you have to give a reason why the kaiju looks like it is? Does it make it look stronger? What should be it's powers? And for flyers, why are the wings so big/small? Insectoid or Batlike? You have to make sure you know what the direction of your kaiju overall should be first.

Can kaiju have mamalian traits as well? I kind of made one with the front being a cross between a lion/leopard/saber tooth cat and the back half is reptilian.

Usually the smaller the kaiju, the more talking potential because it makes two character more relatable with the audience. This usually is at around the 50-100ft range.

hm... I would suggest 45m tops, remember, 55 meters is already pretty large for your average kaiju as it's nearer to 200 ft.

Originally, Tyrantis was 50 meters, but Will decided to go with the smaller monsters to make them more unique and give the monsters' better interaction with human beings.
I also decided on a similar idea with the Behemoth Chronicles.

That's pretty interesting, I only learnt that from you, was it in a journal or some sort? I'd like to learn more on what happened.
If that works best for you, go for it man! I like seeing new directions being taken. Oddly, Jovis was originally meant to be just 250ft tall, then 300, and finally 412 due to plot reasons and world building issues, so I guess I'm having the exact opposite situation.
