Description
Flag of the Kingdom of Canada, also used as the flag for the federation known collectively as the Third Empire. The flag as a whole, or the lion-and-maple, is often featured on the flags of the constituent states of the Third Empire too, either as a Canton or, rarely, as a Charge. While the Kingdom of Canada dates back to the late 20th century, when the British royal family fled the isles in the face of a popular revolution, the Third Empire has only been in existance since 2051AD, while under the leadership of King William V.

Thanks It's based off the crest of the Governer-General of Canada.

Cut+Paste It's a combination of the two symbols previously used for the Governer General of Canada ([link] ). The reasoning behind the use of the symbol is that in the rushed exodus from Britain in the mid-1980's, no flag bearing the Royal Standard could be found to greet the beleaguered Royal family with on their arrival in Canada; the closest that could be found was that of the Governer General. With the arrival being televised, many Canadians (and Americans, watching with enthusiasm from the south) mistook the Governer General flag to be that of the Royal family. The flag was adopted by a public eager to show their support for the Royals, and when a referendum was passed to establish the Throne of Canada, the national flag was changed to one depicting the Lion & maple symbol, with a Union flag canton (see the Canadian flag in: [link] ). After the formation and organising of the Third Empire in 2051, the flag was changed again, to this one, with an adjusted Lion (closed mouth, no tongue, but still with claws) and with red and white bars invoking the older pre-Kingdom Canadian flag.

Nice! It's fun to see how much thou put into all these nations, good idea to start that group too. I'd join if I'd have anything to contribute, but I don't think that what I've made could be called alternate history. I think it's more like... sci-fi? I don't know. XD
But I look forward to seeing more of this. How about making some Nordic flags? I take it they must've changed with the Communist occupations and all. ^^

Yeah, I'm trying to think of the flag for Progressive Britain at the moment, too
