I have two theories. The first is that Purple Guy is the father of the kid who lost his frontal lobe and wanted revenge, so he decided to kill the kids who hurt his son. The second theory is that the kids were abused and Purple Guy wanted to end their suffering. Both are completely legit.

Because that poor kid outside the first restaurant clearly had something to do with either of those theories. Oh wait no they don't.
For the first theory one of those kids was his own son so yeah that's still pretty twisted. That second theory is just very, very dumb.
Face it, you can't turn the Purple man into a sympathetic character. He's a child killer. End of story.

The kid outside was obviously homeless and suffering. Purple Guy ended his suffering. And perhaps, for the second theory, Purple Guy know of and believes that the body is only a shell for a soul, therefore trying to end their suffering and free them. Now that is end of story.
