Description A humanized version of an old digital drawing back in 2015. I have made drastic changes to my OC, Dawnlight. Is he a girl now? Is he a persona of mine? Not really, it's a difference from what I imagined him to be back in 2014 but after that I decided to make as a feminine character. He's more like me about personality. I'll get to it when I can get a proper background for him. I think that's all I have to say for him.

Forgive for me for the messy lines and basic design. I didn't try to make the drawing look complete. I wanted to get the simple designs done so I could improve it later. Back in 2015, I find it easier to improve if you try to draw more than to focus on the quality of a single drawing. It's from my perspective anyway. To be honest, I didn't this look great, it's still bad. I would need lots of practice if I want to master this kind of style. If you have some critiques, be sure to comment. It may help a lot.

Update: I just realized, I messed up the proportion. He looks way too short.

Very cool. Β It looks like you are taking a liking in traditional art, very nice. Β I always like traditional art.

In the spaces where you added shading, I really like the soft, volumetric style you were using. The lower part of the braid, the eyes, and the neck really stand out as progressing toward great quality. Keep going forward with that shading.

it might be tempting to go with a cell-shading methodology for this character when you rework and possibly color this image, but I would recommend against that-- the real strength in this image will be the contrast between the strengthening machine aspects and the humanizing biological aspects. Using a cell-shading style would have the unfortunate side effect of visually equating the biological aspects with the machine aspects.

Good luck with the planned continuing improvements! I look forward to seeing where and how you develop this drawing!

Thank you so much for critique! I'll definitely keep it mind. It'll probably take years to master but I'll try.

My pleasure. Thank you for taking it graciously.

I dare say you will master your intended technique fairly quickly. Just keep drawing, hey? And don't get discouraged. Sometimes the effect you want and how to achieve it clicks fast... other times, it takes experiments and many "ruined" drawings.

You seem like the resilient type, so apologies if the advice is unwelcome.

I welcome all kinds of tips, advice and criticisms. I don't find it to be daunting to try again. No matter how hard or vigorous it is, it will work out better than what I have expected. Again, thank you for taking your time making this constructive criticism!
