Description I haven't drawn in a while so please forgive me, lol. Was just reflecting on the oddness of the phrase "be washed in the Blood of Jesus/Christ/etc" It sounds perfectly fine to Christians, but how odd does it sound to everyone else? Seems a bit creepy if you ask me

Before you hound me about "OMG ITS NOT MEANT TO BE LITERAL ITS A EUPHEMISM GOSH," I know.

I do agree that it sounds a bit odd, and that's coming from a Christian...

I think I've seen something similar.Β  I'll let you know if I find it, it's basically three figures (like you'd see on a bathroom sign) and one is Christian one is Jewish, and the third is Muslim.Β  The Christian is saying "You guys don't eat pork? That's weird we drink the blood of our Christ."

No, it was a representation of the purification that the Hebrew priests had to do before they could approach the alter. They would use the blood of.... The Perfect Lamb.
HAHA i did laugh though.

The song "Power in the Blood" is now playing in my head.

As for the euphemism concept, that seems more like a face-saving ploy in light of modern criticism - devout transubstantiationists might still claim that the wine and bread of communion literally changes into the blood and flesh of Jesus Christ when ingested, and they get (rightfully) laughed at for what a ridiculous and hilariously archaic idea this is (not to mention I laugh at anything that promotes cannibalism).

Brrr. Β  It IS ghastly, isn't it?Β  Even AS a metaphor!

Reminds me of the comment by Lenny Bruce:Β  "If Jesus had been killed 20 years ago, Catholic school children would be wearing little electric chairs round their necks instead of crosses."

This made me think.

Β

Perhaps the "rapture" mentioned in that book is really a mass alien abduction thing.

Considering all the human sacrifice and instructions for sacrifice in general in the bible... it's not surprising that they word it this way.
Β
Fuck, even him dying on the cross was a human sacrifice. It sickens me.

(What sickens me more though is people accuse ME of that kind of thing. READ YOUR OWN DAMN BOOK.)

I do read it. Have you?

If you would like i could try to explain any confusion you may have.

I'm not confused.

Obviously, you only cherry-pick the good verses out.

I see them All as good verses.Β

But, I guess i could be the one that is confused. Could you explain more?

Funny thing is that young kids DO tend to take things literal.

I remember going to church and wondering "What the heck do they mean? That's a wafer, not body of Christ! At least it better be, I don't want to eat aΒ part ofΒ someone's body!"

That would suck to be covered in somebody else's blood, I don't want that, Jesus could've been HIV positive, I don't want to get sick.
