it's actually quite a long story, if you really want to know the whole thing i'll definitely email you all the relevant docs and such....it was quite the controversy and i think there is still an ongoing legal procedure involved

jark was the one who came up with the idea for deviant art, wrote all the original code for deviant art and basically heis the reason we have a community today. And then the rest of the DA team gave him the royal shaft.
