Nice tutorial... but this one is more for people who already know the basics of sprites. I want to learn so much more. I don't know how to fill in the dots so it will look good - and I would be so happy to learn. I have made some sprites by looking at others (no original, just "calculated" them, so to speak). I don't know hoe to color them, so it looks good. I would be so happy if you could help me out?

Not really, I use MS Paint; but most of the professional sprites I know [not a lot of em use DA] think that's a really odd program to use.
A more accurate description would be that most awesome spriters -could- use MSPaint.

lol, Well I meant the ones I've seen. XD As far as I know they might just get the base idea in Paint and then maybe convert to other programs. It's easier for me in Paint. PS is complicated when it comes to pixeling for me. ._.;

Photoshop's pretty simple for pixelart when you know what functions to turn off to avoid having AA
and stuff all over your pictures.

honestly i didnt read the whole hting, but from what i did.. i dont recall seeing any mention of using the "magnifying glass thing" thats been a life saver for my spriting, just inceasing the pixel size so you can work on something small, then shrink it down to real size when done, though im sure you'd know all that :0

Well yeah, working with the magnifying glass tool when making pixel art is really not worth mentioning, working on sprites at 1x pixel size is neigh impossible,
I really just didn't mention it because quite frankly, it wasn't necessary.

Well to be honest, there is no "the" way to sprite is what I'd like to add, I find myself completely differing in ways of building up the image depending on the final result more often than not.

Nice, but the thing that bugs me most is how the sprite goes from very incomplete (no face, hair) to suddenly HAVING a face and hair with no show of how you did it. Also, the pixelated text makes my eyes hurt to read. :\

Well to be honest, I saved some steps of progress myself while making the sprite to show to Seel, I always forget to do it when working on something without it really "being for someone" and sadly, I only saved the progress of two sprites, this one had most steps, thus showed most of what was happening.
I'll add some real tutorials that actually give proper reasons for why I do things soon simply for the fact that I've really haven't come across a lot of tutorials that teach good art, yet alone basic fundamentals (mostly tutorials that tell you "how to shade" a sprite without explaining the need of lightsources, and there appears to be absolutely no emphasis on how to get good solid lineart without having to scan in a picture anywere)

what might also work is going to "edit image" and selecting the option to show it at it's original size....because for some reason DA likes to resize certain images o_O;
but yeah...awesome tutorial....i still loooove that sprite to death 8D
