When Scar returned, he was in the middle of a vast desert. The sun beat down hard, burning his skin.

Before him stood Nathan, now grown. He had dark hair, a small beard, and was adorned in rags, a rifle slung over his arm.

"Grandfather"

Scar moved towards his grandson. Nathan took the rifle and raised it.

"Nathan," Scar said. "I mean no harm."

"Where did you come from?"

Scar smiled. "It's a long story. Walk and talk?"

Nathan's childhood innocence came back to him. "Why not?"

The two walked. Nathan explained how after Emperor John Avox's death, the world was plunged into a nuclear war. People had survived either by hiding underground or transferring their intelligence to machines.

And Scar told Nathan the story of the Other World.
