This is a compilation picture/story thing based off the song "Parachute".( www.youtube.com/watch?v=abx9fd… ) Both Run and I thought it fit these two very well. eue I love the song, and used a few lines as inspiration for these doodles. Eacg one will have a tiny little blurb to go along with it and the line. X"D I hope you guys like this as it's how I'm going to contribute to this little ship. aha..also, kind of OOC -mostly because I'm rushing and want to just go watch TT and can't until I finish this sooooo-
So, for that center one where Gajeel's storming away crying and Etar and Illassa are in the BG? Well, Gaj had finally summoned up the determination and swallowed his pride enough to say something to Etar, and he set out to look for the small orange tom. He found him. He very much did find him, on Red territory, with a blue. namely Illassa. He was..hurt more than words could probably express. He left without saying a word, without getting close enough to blow up on the two. He just left.

I'd like to say that Gajeel does want Etar happy, and if being with Illassa does that...then Gajeel will bite his tongue and not speak of his feelings. That's just how he is. A bit slow to the draw sometimes, but loving and loyal to the end. l'D

He was going to rip that dumb little rat to shreds. Shreds. Gajeel snarled and stalked forward his massive build towering over the yellow tom who thought it pertinent to continue his foolish antagonizing against his cousin. The tom shrunk back in obvious fear and hissed defensively at Gajeel. The blood red tom paid the hiss no heed. This fool wasn't a threat. He continued forward with a snarl twisting his face. It wasn't the whimpers or apologies that stopped him. No, it was the small ginger paw placed atop his. Gajeel looked down and his expression softened into a vicious frown. Etar looked up at his much, much larger companion defiantly. There was a warning in his dual colored eyes, and Gajeel stopped. He retracted his claws and spat at the yellow tom's feet with a colorful curse sent his way. Etar smiled approvingly, and Gajeel growled and yanked his paw away refusing to look at his "cousin".

If somebody had asked Gajeel what it was Etar was talking about the tom wouldn't have been able to answer. He had no clue, and in all honesty Gajeel didn't really care. He looked on blandly listening to the small ginger tom chatter endlessly. It wasn't until Etar spoke his "nickname" that Gajeel started paying actual attention to the conversation.
"Gaj, I'm not really sure what to do about it though! Kyna-" and Gajeel had stopped listening to the words again. He was really only interested in the sound of his smaller companion's voice. Was that normal? Was it bad? Etar's voice had a rythmic pattern of crests and dips. It was like listening to music. An interesting experience that Gajeel couldn't compare to much else. It was unique, and something that he always enjoyed doing. Even if his "cousin" was blithering on about whatever inane thing his pet rat had been doing recently.

Etar's breath hitched as he sobbed into his cousin's and only remaining family's chest. He leaned into the larger tom crying as he struggled to voice his problems. It had come as a surprise to the orange tom just how patient Gajeel COULD be at times. It was almost scary to see this side of the large tom, but...but it was nice too. Gajeel's warm paw rested comfortingly against Etar's shoulder and he murmured gently words into the ginger tom's ear. Obviously, Gajeel was trying to keep his "cousin" calm. He wasn't sure when during Etar's rant about his emotions when he had started crying. It wasn't sobbing like the smaller tom, but silent tears trailing down his furred cheeks. It wasn't true. What Etar was saying? All of it was lies. Etar may be sobbing because he felt alone, but he never was. Never would be if Gajeel had it his way. The scarlet tom silently cried at the fact that his affections went so unnoticed. That the only cat he had left didn't care enough to notice or didn't think him capable of such emotions.

He had known. How could he have not? Etar had been blushing and his eyes shinning with that sickening love struck expression when he talked about her. A blue. Of course it was a blue. Gajeel knew there was a reason he despised blues. This was a good one. A very reasonable, sensible, understandable reason- and that's ignoring the fact that one attacked him for no reason as a kit. The blood colored tom turned on his heel. There was no point in watching. He knew. He knew what Etar had said. He knew what the damned blue's reply was. He could tell by their expressions. Hurt rushed through his body and tore at his chest as if it wanted to physically rip his heart from his chest while rage turned his blood to liquid fire. Hot tears streamed down Gajeel's cheeks as he stormed away. Etar be damned. The empire be damned. He needed to get away. Away from it all because he had nothing left. The tom choked back his tears and the need to run. He was no simpering fool to be sent running tail between his legs. Gajeel closed his eyes trying to ignore the hurt pulsating between his ribs. It was hard. So very hard to try and ignore it, but it's what he'd always done. He had practice. The tom sucked in air between his teeth and sat alone in the forest until his tears dried up, and he had no emotion left. It was only then that Gajeel returned to the site. His massive paws carried him passed his cousin- and that's all Etar would ever be, wouldn't it- and towards his nest. The ginger tom looked up when Gajeel passed him and moved to follow him before he saw the larger tom's posture and movements. Gajeel didn't want to talk to him. Etar watched in confusion as Gajeel entered the soldiers' den. He never went to sleep this early. Normally he would hunt with Zara or talk with him for a time before he went to sleep... Worry and confusion flowed through the orange tom, but he couldn't really do anything about his cousin if he didn't want to talk to him. Whatever Gajeel's problem was...If he wanted to talk about it later, he would. Etar was sure of that much.

Etar stared at the silver piece of jewelry that was shoved into his paws.
"Take it." was the grunted explanation.
"Gaj?" he asked looking up at the blood red tom- now missing his signature lip ring-, "What's going on with you?"
"I just..wanted to tell you if I don't see you later that-" he started before closing his eyes and looking away. Gajeel's entire posture changed, and he seemed to shut down. "Just wear the damned ring, Etar." he snarled eventually turning to his cousin eyes sharp and cold.
Etar took note of an odd emotion swirling behind the vicious front. He frowned at that, but didn't argue. He had a feeling that this meant something important to the tom.
"You aren't going to die, Gaj...Even as an old fool." he said smiling ruefully- just to show he was kidding- before his tone became a bit more serious, "But if it makes you feel better, then, sure...I'll wear your lip ring."
The question of why Gajeel gave it to him went unasked, but Etar had a sneaking suspicion that as Gajeel turned and walked away that there was a slight hesitation in his normally determined stride. His dual-colored eyes narrowed as he watched Gajeel leave.
"Gods above, help you two." came the snort from behind him. Etar turned to see a yellow tom with bright green eyes that danced with mirth staring at him, "you, my orange friend, are surprisingly slow when it comes to these things. For years he's felt this way. Have yet to notice and he's given you one of his most prized possesions!"
Etar blinked in confusion still very much lost. Ray threw up his paws in exsasperation. The tom shook his head and swatted Etar over the back of his head as he strode out of the Veterens' den.
"You dunce. He loves you." Ray spat without turning around.
Etar stared at the retreating healer -it seems Ray and Gajeel were just as stubborn to keep working in their old age- and blushed a deep red.

"W-wait, Gajeel!" he yelled rushing out of the den.
